Ever wonder what it's like to wake up a diamondback rattlesnake?

Honestly can't believe it took him so long to wake up. Despite being shocked by the camera, he still didn't strike

Last fall when archery hunting SW Oklahoma, I had one slither right by me and I didn't know it until it rattled and I looked down and it was 2 feet from me. I had snake boots on but it scared the shite out of me.
The next day I saw one on the path coiled up and rattling at me. That one got a broadhead.

We were clearing some dead cedar from our lease in Texas in the spring. I was keenly aware that there were rattlers around.
I take a good look under a dead cedar. No snakes. I approach and lean in to cut it at the base. Just about the time my chainsaw blade hits the base of the tree I hear a loud rattle. I've never moved so fast in my life. Chainsaw when hit the ground and I was 15 feet back from the tree in the blink of an eye. I still hear the rattle and slowly approach. A twig got caught in my chainsaw and was making the rattle noise.

I thought my balls were big enough to bare hand a 5.5 footer.
When that dude started rattling my balls turned into a wet puss

I hate snakes. But rattlers are cool. Unless In the yard I wouldn’t kill one.

Bout the only thing I’m scared of when walking thru the woods or underbrush.
I have no idea how me and my friends never got bit back in the day. We were in the woods/ponds/creeks from sun up to sun down.
Closest I ever got my dog jumped into a pool in the bend of a creek we wadded all the time. He started yelling so I reached into the water, grabbed his collar, and pulled him out. My dad looked at his hind leg and then went to vet to get some medicine.
Few weeks later the creek had dried up some and at the bottom of that pool was a water moccasin.

Few years back dove hunting in Pecos TX. Walking to get situated with shotgun over the shoulder and stool in my hand. Looking up as I’m walking and one rattled as I damn near stepped on it only about 1-2ft from my foot. I jumped and the stool went flying in the air. Still till this day the scaredest and most chilling sound I’ve heard. He quickly got a 12ga blast but idk the rest of the afternoon if I shot a dove. Constantly just scanned around where I was sitting waiting on another snake.
