One side was way in there and we couldn't find how far. The other side we dug out and set in concrete.

I'd say go for it.

I'm not an engineer, but I've watched enough facebook videos of "engineering" in 3rd world countries to know there are far less substantial bridges that can support heavy loads.

You verified the beams aren't rusted to nothing I guess? I'd try the first few loads with a highly insured old truck, or a skidder, etc. Looks crazy but fun. Those old riveted splices in the beams worry me.

I assume you'll put tread boards down to spread the load on your "pickets"?

You logging hardwood or pine? Are prices decent on hardwood logs?

I'm assuming you are going to use a Dozer to clear a road? I'd test it with that first.

Yeah I'll screw down some 2x12s.

Mostly hardwood. And No. Prices are terrible. Because of a combination of the Trade War and Covid. Hardwood log prices are the worst they've been in 10-15 years. Just awful.

We're basically just thinning out some junk. And clearing some food plots. Wouldn't recommend a high value sale in this market.

On top of that, the oil field mats and board road lumber sucks too.

I'm guessing it will take 3 years to recover. Probably half the hardwood sawmills that I know of are idled or have gone out of business all together.

Yes - length of truck/trailer balances weight

Add the total weight of the load you will be carrying to the total trailer weight.
Divide the total weight of the load and trailer by the total number of tandem axles. Include the load bearing axle in your count. …

Actually I have no idea

I've gone over worse, in fully loaded tandem axle dump truck, but the span wasn't quite as long. Any way to add support to the center of the span with some beams, or heavy schedule pipe?

It won't fail immediately. It will have some issues after a time.

Reasoning: I've driven a 27000lb excavator over a much less substantial bridge

Didn’t you have a thread on this several months back? What were the other alternatives?

No. That was for a 90 foot span. I was just hoping to be able to get a pickup across that. I need to get full sized trucks over this bad boy.

If those dimensions are right, you've probably got W12x40 beams out there. My scratched out calcs say if you had all new condition Grade 36 steel out there, it would be close but it should hold it up. I don't like where that splice is though.

I would not recommend without more detailed measurements to accurately assess.

Should bought a bulk of red oak oil field lumber for the decking. Telephone pole on each side of bank to support beams. You go take the 1st load across first.

Hell yeah. Just make sure you video the first truck.

I'd say get with the contractor who's going to be clearing the land, and ask them. Granted many of the drivers are privately contracted( own their own truck and trailer), but I don't know how many would drive across that loaded.

It kinda depends on where the sets, and landings are. Last time they cleared ours the contractor brought in huge culvert pipes, laid dirt on top of them, then gravel, and used it until finished then removed it all.

If there is enough marketable timber they will find a way to get in there usually.

By my calculations yes it will. That will be 5,000 dollars for my consulting fee and 200 dollars for the processing fee.
