EJW was good dude. He and I weren’t best friends but kept in touch, many laughs with that ole galoot.

I'm not reading that, but thanks for the reminder. We forget how life can change quickly although this year has kept me involved.
RIP EJW!
Had some ole boys refurbing a shrimp boat between then and now on 56, name was loud and proud "Josey Wales", I watched the progress with interest and remembered our brother.

I graduated with him from ULM’s school of construction. We had a lot of classes together but I never really got to know him. Just so happened that years later I was reading this board one day and learned that he had passed. By all accounts he was an awesome person. Wish I had put forth more of an effort to get to know him.

6 years...hard to believe. We had just become friends (IRL) when he first got the diagnosis. I remember fishing Old River with him a couple weeks before when he kept complaining about the ulcer he had on his tongue. Still can’t hardly believe that’s what took him out. I lost two more young friends this year with 3 kids each from cancer. Damn, damn shame. Think I’ll add them to my prayer list tonight.

I know. We know each other :). You posted a pic of yourself and your dachshund on the OT. You used to sell my former company doors and door hardware.

Speaking of my dachshund avatar, EJW created it for me years ago as a joke. I lost it a few months ago when the hosting pic went down and never saved it because he created it on his computer back then.
EJW worked at the door store with me also. We had some damn good times at the door store in college.

That's too damn young to go, with his family and what I know of him, this doesn't make sense. Such a waste. Loved his posts, always level.
All the best for his family, was nice to see the amounts light up for his child's (?), I donated, don't remember the name.
Somethings linger, this was has.

I figured out who he was through a relative in Sunday School who put him on the prayer list same week as one of the surgeries. Wonderful man and wonderful family. Did not know him very long but we did take his son on a youth hunt one evening. All three of us In one stand and Jason was in a chair that apparently was not as strong as we thought. About mid way through the hunt it gave way. Startled us all and his son laughed pretty hard at him scrambling to get up while jammed in the corner of a box stand. Out of necessity he and his son shared a chair the remainder of the hunt. I snapped a picture of them and to this day there is just something about that picture - there is a story and bond in their smiles and their eyes. His son shot at 2 deer and a large hog that evening. Missed each time and we ribbed Jason about his gun sighting abilities. One of the best hunts I can remember. Hard to believe that it has been 6 years.

That Model 7 in .243 was his most favorite gun. He took his first deer with it beside JSM when he was a kid. One of his dying wishes was to see Lil EJW kill a deer with that fine rifle.
You taking him and his son on that trip meant the world to him in his last weeks here on earth.

I just saw this. Josey helped me through a very rough time in my life and marriage. Dude was selfless.
RIP brother.

I thought it was funny that at his event at Bayou Desiard CC when Anna Lisa was thanking everyone that she brought up all the guys from the OB and that she thought it was weird at first that he had such in depth relationships with guys he didn’t even know other than from a website on the internet.

Best story I have ever read on the OB. Those are the kinda stories his boy can talk about forever!

He was the best poster in the history of the OB. Never met him in person, but remember feeling like I had made a new friend when he changed his TD signature to something I posted.

It was certainly a Blessing for me. I believe I remember you started a cooking and drinking thread that evening titled "cooking and drinking (Little Josey Missed but it aint over yet..)" or something like that. We were all posting, laughing, and shooting all evening it seemed like. I was really disappointed there was no harvest but after we climbed down he asked Jake if he had fun and Jake said something to the affirmative and that was good enough for Jason. Good times indeed!

Josey! That's a good boy. Really happy he went to one of you fellas...with a good family.
Seeing little reunion threads of that night sure make me thankful for all you good people. Hope you're all doing well, and wish you and your families a Merry Christmas.
