So I see this guy around town (grocery stores, etc) openly carrying a 9mm glock in a holster on his belt. Not concealed and looks awfully real. Just wondering cause he's kinda "mentally off" looking and may have a problem passing standard IQ tests.

He may be mentally “off,” but I’m not aware of any restriction against open carry in Louisiana, providing you are acting in a safe manner and not causing a disturbance.

I support open carry. But why does it seem that every person I see open carrying is a walking stereotype of douchebaggary?

They can’t afford the conceal carry class?

#1 - how do you know it's a "9mm glock" ? That is impossible for you to tell if it is holstered on his hip. This only tells me you know know nothing about firearms.

#2 - you have seen him multiple times in different locations and nothing bad has happened to you or anyone else...so why the hell are you worried about it? Call the police if you are scared he is a threat to you or anyone else. They will defend you, because you are clearly incapable of doing that for yourself.

#3 - I have no idea what you are trying to imply with your standard IQ test assertion.

You sound like a raging pussy that is scared of a firearm. Fine, just say that. No reason to insult a man you don't even have the balls to go introduce yourself to and visit with for a second to confirm/deny your irrational fears. Do you quiver every time you see someone who might not be 21 with a beer? Because I guarantee you alcohol will kill a hell of a lot more people in American this year than guns.

I’m fairly certain any business owner can prohibit you from entering their store while carrying if they so choose. They must not object.

If they are good with it, why aren’t you?

Dude was probably trolling.
But for number one unless it’s in a Calvary holster I would be looking at the grip angle and pattern trying to tell which generation Glock the ol boy was carrying. But that’s just me.

One of the highest iq guys I know open carries. And he looks like he is insane, but he is quite stable. Don't judge a book by its cover.

I support it too. The bad guys will Target open carry guys first and it gives me time to react. :)

If I remember correctly:

Louisiana Law on open carry states that if you can legally own a firearm, you may open carry it anywhere, with the exception of government buildings, places of worship and places that prohibit the carrying of firearms. Also you cannot open carry in bars as well if I remember correctly.

The law also has a part about that you may not brandish the weapon. What determines brandishing is not well defined, but I believe if you are open carrying and it is holstered properly you are good. However if you are walking around waving it around or carrying it in your hand, both instances warrant brandishing.

If you see him regularly, he probably is a local guy and probably safe to approach. I would be inclined to strike up a conversation with him at some point and ask if he is harassed about his open carrying very often. He'll probably love the positive attention, and you'll probably be counted as a friendly if he ever encountered you again...

You are absolutely allowed to open carry in this state but you can't simultaneously wear a MAGA hat while doing so or else you will be publicly humiliated, fired, and lose your job.

I'm assuming. What difference does it make, unless its a toy gun?

I saw a guy a while back in Rayville carrying a rather large revolver in the back pocket of his jeans.
