Given that in 43 years this has never happened, I'll take my chances.

No, your complete lack of understanding of real world scenarios makes you naive. But hide behind "weapon safety" all you want. Hope you never are forced to bring your weapon out in distress. God knows you are simply not prepared for it.

You can still be safe with a chambered round.

I support your choice and it's understandable since you lack gun safety but at least you can admit that you use your self defense weapon in a way that is slower and riskier.

I have no need for one to be in the chamber in my house, or in my car. Only place it's necessary is on the trail.

Debatable. I say carrying a self defense weapon chambered is safer because you can actually use it.

Same here.

No one can truly be 100% prepared for home invasion.

Ask the OT poster, whose home was invaded, if he thinks one in would have mattered during his invasion.

I was taught that as soon as I chambered a round, it was going down range.

At age 5, I understood why.
Chambering had to be my commitment to discharge.

Holes would be made.

There's a difference between being safe and being overly cautious and putting yourself at a tactical disadvantage.

With modern guns you can pretty much put every confidence into your guns internal and external safeties. They are more than enough to prevent an AD.

If it's all about safety for you, then carrying a gun without a loaded magazine is even safer. Why wouldn't you do it like that? If you ever need to use your gun you should have plenty of time to load a mag and chamber a round. It only takes a few seconds.

Cause everyone is comfortable with certain levels of risk. And given the thousands of gun accidents each year, many by "experts" , I don't get the mentality.

Just be ause one doesn't prepare for every possibility, then they should prepare for none. Brilliant
