I'm considering getting a .50 and a spare .44 mag barrel.

Figure I'll roll a few armadillos with it.

Just curious about them. Reliability? Corrosion resistance?

As Carson mentioned, Clames does. I have shot .50 AE ones on several occasions. Very fun gun.
Here is a screenshot of a video my brother took of me shooting one in late 2014.

Pieces of them will roll.

Never had a FTF with mine though a newb I let shoot it did. These things will punish the limp wristed. They make them in stainless steel but otherwise they are no more prone to corrosion that any other firearm made out of steel. Wipe it down with a little CLP after usage and that's all it should need.

Btw, I recommend going with .50 and .357. That way you have the lowest and the highest power offered. Shooting it in .357 feels like a .380 with the weight and gas system.

.357 in a Ruger GP100 is pretty tame, damn mouse fart in a DE. DE in .50AE and don't bother with the other calibers, just be a let down.

Send me the used .50AE brass if you don't reload OP...

I'd prefer a 44 mag

When I worked at a Pawn shop through college, I had more than one customer tell me "you know that desert 50 will break your wrist each time you shoot". I really wish I was lying.

A friend has two and had only fired them a handful of times. It is a really powerful firearm that packs a hell of a punch. We fired it at a 15” diameter tree trunk from 20 yards. It has a very large and pronounced flame ball. Whole lotta fun.

One of my friends has one. No problems w/ the concerns you mentioned. He couldn't keep the rear sight on it. First time it came off, he sent it back to the factory and they installed a new one w/o charge. Unfortunately, it came off as well. He doesn't shoot it much.

I hear you need very big hands for it to be comfortable. That's all I got.

Desert Eagle, that's one great big ol' pistol
I mean, 50-caliber made by bad-arse Hebrews
And some surplus tracers for that old B-A-R of Slayton's
Soon's it gets dark, we're gonna have us a time

It was banned from import during the Clinton assault weapon ban because of the weight.
