My tire shop is a continental dealer.
What are the best options for a mainly hwy all terrain tire?
Mainly looking for a quiet ride and occasional muddy jobsite. He is recommending the AT2.

A few months ago I researched long and hard between the Continental TerrainContact AT2 and the BFG Trail Terrain TA+ in stock size.
I ended up going with the BFG and I'm very happy with them.
My priorities were road noise, MPG, longevity, and mild offroad capability. So far the BFG have checked all if these boxes, but from my research the Continental likely would have as well.
If you are looking for Continental, being that the TerrainContact AT2 is their only all terrain tire, I'd say go with that one

I have run both tires before. The Conti are quieter.
Ran thru 2 sets of Continental tires (60K each). Never had issues with them.

My tire shop can get about any brand and the manager has the AT on his truck and recommended them to me. I was taking off the BFG KO3s the truck came with for the same reason; it's a daily driver and most of the miles are on pavement. I'm happy with them, they're quieter and much better in the rain than the KO3, I'm sure you'll like the AT2.
FWIW, the last tire he recommended for a different vehicle was a Pirelli so he's not a Continental fanboy or anything.

Continental AT2's will probably be my next tire.

When I hear continental tire I think 1992 caprice classic.

I have the original ATs on our F150 FX4.
They have been very good as highway biased AT. Quiet... good in the rain and standing water. No issues on 2 tracks and dirt. Haven't been in the mud.
Have over 60k miles and 5yrs on them and still plenty of tread. Will likely replace next year. The AT2s are strong contenders as the replacements. They also now have the 3PMSF rating
The new Pirelli Scorpion XTM ATs have been getting pretty good reviews. A higher price point. On sale at $20(?) off a tire on Tire Rack.

Research the tire. I had some Continentals on a family small SUV that had lots of tread after 4 years but the tires literally disintegrated. Chunks were falling off of them. Never seen anything like that even on much older tires.

They have different grades of tires, don't get the worst. We have the road version of the terrain contact AA rated whatever, it's been great unless my wife is running over a big screw in them.

I put some terrain contact at 2 on a z71 Tahoe recently and they are quiet and smooth. These replaced the Goodyear tires that came stock. Those Goodyears lasted just over 30k miles which I thought was ridiculous. The contenetial have a 65k tread life warranty. I only have about 10k on the tires thus far so I don’t know if they will last longer. The online reviews when I selected them were positive. I can’t say however that I notice any difference in driving between the stock and these. I got them hoping they last longer than the stock Goodyears.

I have a set of the terraincontact on my Wife’s trail sport Pilot and my Ridgeline. Love them. Do rain real well and pulls my boat out of my lake with no issues.
