Curious
Crossed the causeway today for work. Saw at least 20 boats. Trout fishing ? Or sheephead ? Water looked muddy.

get a bag of market shrimp from the grocery store. Launch and go to the middle crossover. Scrape the bridge piling with a hoe, bait your hook, drop and hold on

sheepshead and black drum

Def bring a bass boat on the right days. It’s actually easier to maneuver and fish all the angles on calmer days. Only time I ever use high viz line is when fishing there.

Had a guy in a bass boat today. And it appeared to be very rough.

Catching ALOT more than a few. It’s as good as it’s been in a long long time

If you’re a popping cork delacroix style trout guy, the cway bridge will frustrate and humble you pretty quickly.

Plenty of trout have fallen victim to a double rig fishing the bottom in bends and intersections

You’re right though that jigging and finding that pattern can be rough on a popping cork only person

Causeway trout have some of the toughest bite to hook up and land ratios of any spot in SELA. I have spent a lot of time fishing it over the years. It will challenge anyone.

With the wind and huge incoming tide, you better have a large boat.

This is exactly right more often than not.

Having said that, a buddies friend just got into trout fishing this year and recently bought a boat. Went out to the causeway to try it out and brought home 20 fish. If a newbie is catching that many then that tells you just how many are out there right now.
