Breaking in AR15 barrel

Just bought my first AR and going shoot for the first time Saturday. Read a lot of opinions on how to best break in the barrel and whether it’s even necessary to break in beyond just shooting it. I’m planning on using it primarily for plinking, no hunting and definitely no competition shooting.
Any suggestions on best ways to break in, pros/cons and necessity, etc. are appreciated.

There's been a decent amount of discussion on here about it. Most say that it really isn't necessary. I probably fall into that group.
The main thing to do is to make sure you run an oiled rag down the barrel prior to shooting the 1st time.

No need to break in an AR barrel. Just shoot it.

I took the safest route since I built mine but I would clean the barrel after every:
The first shot

Personally I wouldn't do any specific barrel break in procedures some experts recommend (and some don't). Nevertheless, as w/ any new gun, I'd definitely clean the bore well before shooting it to remove any microscopic metal shavings and other debris left from the barrel making process.

Some (not many) custom barrel makers recommend breaking them in. I can't imaging there are very many AR barrels that need this or that would benefit from it (assuming this is a stock barrel and/or you'll be using factory ammo).

If it’s not a match or custom barrel and only intended for plinking, oil it and shoot the heck out of it. You aren’t going to damage it and it will still probably shoot as good or better than you are able. Breaking in barrels does have a place. This isn’t it

It's a myth. There is absolutely no scientific data to prove a barrel that was broken in is more accurate than one that hasn't.
Barrel makers came out with the procedure to make money. Every shot fired through a barrel wears it down. The more shots fired for break in, the faster some are to replacing the barrel. Especially those that are over bore.
Im assuming this is a chrome moly barrel. Just shoot the bastard. It's good for 8-10k rds. A new barrel for that gun is fairly cheap.

i shoot 15-20k rounds a year and ive never broken in a barrel in my life lmao

I don't do anything, just shoot it and then clean it when you get home. After that, clean it every 300-500 rounds. If this were some super whiz bang Mach speed caliber with a 200 round barrel life then maybe I'd approach a little differently, still wouldnt call it a barrel break in.
Y'all would hate my AR, I don't think it's been cleaned in a couple years. The only reason my Glock gets cleaned is because the wife does it when she clean her issued Glock.
