So I take off the factory grease in order to apply more lube?
Factory lubricants and cutting lubricants become very sticky and dense when they begin to cool, they don't lube the gun in any way.

10-4. Not sure why they that's not in the factory manual, which I didn't read until this morning.

I have never quite understood that either. It took a gunsmith that I was buddies with explaining it to me when he found out I almost did it with my rem 700 and told me it was terrible for the barrel. I was just turning 18 and could barely afford the rifle anyway. That would have been my luck.

When they ship those guns they have packing grease on them. Some may have got into the action... Clean it. Shoot a few rounds of high brass, add just a tad bit of oil on moving parts and you should be good to go.
Don't return it or you won't have a gun for a while. Most places will not take "returns" on fired guns, but will send it off to the local warranty station. Which is either in Baton Rouge or Lafayette.

Even to manual says to shoot high brass first

It does say this but it is contained within the "description" of the Gas Operated system and not the "operating" part of the manual:
GAS-OPERATED SYSTEM WITH EXHAUST VALVE
The exclusive gas-operated system, patented by Beretta, with a self-cleaning cylinder and piston, has a self-cleaning exhaust valve, so that excess pressure caused by the most powerful cartridges can be decreased automatically: as a result, the shotgun without any adjustment or intervention can shoot cartridges from
70 mm (2 3/4 in) /24 g (7/8 oz), to 76 mm (3 in) /57 g (2 oz). The “UNICO” version can fi re from 70 mm (2 3
/4 in) /24 g (7/8 oz) cartridges to the powerful
Supermagnum 89 mm (3 1/2 in) /64 g (2 1/4 oz) loads.
Beretta recommends: To immediately obtain superior fi rearm performance and optimum cartridges versatility from your A400 Xplor, fire some medium power
cartridges first (32g/1 1/8 oz).

Just a few dots on the moving parts is all it takes.
Yep. Just got one too. Small amount of oil and went teal hunting with it the next day using high brass loads. No issues. Damn fine shotgun.

You need at least 1 1/8 oz shot for that gun to cycle.
What are you using?

VersaMax!!
4 years, never been taken apart to clean. Shot everything from 2 3/4"low brass #8's to 3" Hevi-Metal #4's.
My brother has A400 and had similar issues but like others have said, quick cleaning and shooting like a champ.

Wrong. Mine cycles 7/8oz and 1oz target loads with no issue.

and it should. that's my whole issue with it. Sell me a gun that claims to shoot all loads and shell sizes and I expect it to.
that said, I'm still going to follow the BS break-in advice of the OB and see what happens. The break in is BS (not the advice).
