Have owned the Xtrema2 and now the A400, neither required any break-in, both were flawless out the box at the skeet range. I'd definitely break it down and clean up the packing grease, etc.
You should not be having issues with the low brass shells.

Wrong. Mine cycles 7/8oz and 1oz target loads with no issue
Beretta A440 Manual
quote:
Beretta recommends: To immediately obtain superior firearm performance and optimum cartdridge versatility from your A400 Xplor, fire some medium power cartridges first (32g / 1 1/8 oz).

that makes no sense.
Beretta shotguns have a protective layer of grease (not oil) on them when they leave the factory. It's not a thick layer. It's a thin layer of thick grease, if that makes any sense.
So the grease needs to be removed after you buy one. Same for Mossbergs. Then lube with oil as shown in owner's manual.
After that, just about any low brass promo load should run fine.
I know a few people who refuse to buy Winchester promo shells because the metal base often expands when the shell is fired. This affects O/U's as well as semi-autos .... seems to be influenced most by how tight the chamber is.

That's cute, I have the manual for my OWN A400 btw. It cycled the lightest loads with zero issue along with some heavier target/light game loads first time out with it.

I haven't read all 4 pages, but pretty much all guns shipped overseas get a thick layer of Cosmoline on them for rust protection.
I bought an Ethos earlier this year that had that shite everywhere.
It helps to wipe that off and then re-lube with actual gun oil.

I couldn't give a shite if you think it cute or not. That's what the damn manual says. I'm just trying to help MB out and you're being a dick.
I don't care if have a Beretta or not. I have a 686, an SBE2 and a super Vinci. So what

Thanks guys. I've cleaned the entire gun, re-lubed. When I pull back the receiver, I am noticing some pretty significant resistance about 1/2 back. I'm going to try to hit the range today and fire it with the recommended load. If no improvement, it's going back to Bowie.

It means I don't give a shite you quoting me information from a manual I read long before you even thought about it. That's what.

I got the same gun 2 years ago. Was told to shoot some 3" 1 1/4 oz loads at first. Did that. Had a few cycling issues. Gave it a good cleaning and light oiling and it has never failed me since. Really a nice gun. Congrats on your purchase. FWIW I shoot 3" #4 kent most of the time at ducks with improved cylinder factory choke and don't have any trouble killing ducks over decoys. I shoot 2 3/4 low brass 6 during teal season and its ridiculously effective and half the price. Case at academy for $60.

I did get the deal with purchase.
Update. Shot 100 rds 1 1/8 oz through it this am. Had a couple of hang ups but much better. My shooting was horrendous but the gun is breaking in finally.
