I recently bought a new bow after having my old bowtech insanity for many years. I’ve always shot a fixed 4 pin sight but i with my new bow i am considering a slider or a single pin sight.

Do any of y’all shoot the slider/adjustable sights and if so which do you recommend? My worry with a single pin would be adjusting the yardage with a deer in close range and if the deer moves while at full draw you are kind of screwed.

I have been looking at the black gold, spot Hogg and cbe sights.

I shoot a spot hogg fast eddie and love it. In Alabama I just set it to 20 yards and shoot it to 35.

Does your whole sight window move on that one or just the pin?

Spot hog has been a solid sight for many years. I tried one for a while years ago but went back to multipin for the reason you stated.
Numerous times a deer at 30yds started walking closer or at 20 started going away.
But it’s a good sight if you want the single pin

HHA optimizer. I usually leave it on 30yd. With it set on 30yd I know how high it shoots at 20 and how low at 40 (it’s not a big difference). I really only adjust if I’m shooting farther out there, and I generally don’t shoot at a deer farther than 40. Elk is a different story though...

I bought the single pin black gold this year but ended up buying a 3 pin head for it.. I do a good bit of spot and stalk hunting and i was always fooling with the slider. I ordered a 3 pin .10 on all 3 for longer ranges..

I basically do what you do for deer. Last year I went to S Dakota for antelope and had to stretch out farther than I was thinking. Worked great. Shot a goat at 63 yards. Shot him a little low and back but it was fatal.

If you tree stand hunt the majority of the time I would suggest using just 2 pins of a 3 pin sight. I have done this for nearly 20 yrs now and find it works best for me.
With a 20 and a 35 yd pin I have all reasonable ranges covered. Especially if you are shooting 280fps plus. Gap the two pins for 30, hold a hair high with 35 pin for 40 yds and level with back for 45 (with the 35 pin).

Reduces clutter and improves seeing more of the animal in the actual sight picture.

I can't understand why the Trophy Ridge vertical stacked pins didn't catch on with everyone. 3-5 dots and only one line to obstruct your target.

HHA Optimizer Lite single pin. Set it at 30 and target practice at all yardages while leaving the pin at 30. Know your bow. They shoot fast enough these days where it wont rise a whole lot on a 20 yard shot. Chances are if the deer is more than 30 yards away you have some time to slide to the exact yardage. To me that's where the single pin cant be beat, the longer shots.

Hha optimizer fan. I have a hard time shooting well with multiple pins. And I like being able to practice out to 80 yds. Like others have said, set it at 25 or 30 yards for hunting. I don’t shoot deer past that anyway.

How hard is it to set the tapes and how do the slider sights compare accuracy wise to fixed pin sights?

I'm about to take mine off and replace with a black gold ascent 3 pin. Guess ill sell it if anyone is interested. I dont like how all the pins are on the same line, just makes it difficult to zero in on the exact placement in my opinion.

I have the top of the line trophy ridge. I forget the name. Cabela's had it half price in LH a while back. I doubt I'll ever use the last 2 pins though.

I shoot a CBE three pin slider. I set the slider at 40 yards and eight my pins in at 20-30-40 then for distances past 40 I adjust the slider to the correct range and use the bottom pin. I have no intention of shooting a deer past 40 yds so for hunting I just lock it down at 40 and use pins like normal but can practice at longer distances

I’ve shot a Savage pendulum for years. Not cool anymore, but still works.
