I noticed some of these ducks recently visiting my pond. Upwards of 6 of them at a time. They seem to enjoy the company of my mallards and even eat out of their piles of crushed corn. I can get within 20 feet of them and they don't fly away, they just dip into the pond and swim. Funny thing is, I've had muscovy ducks on my property for years and never seen the whistling ducks. It was only after last year getting rid of the muscovies and introducing the mallards that I've seen them. They're pretty ducks and I enjoy watching them interact with my mallards. Has anyone else had them visit their property?

Those ducks are taking over everywhere.
Fight back and make a gumbo, they taste delicious.

I had a pair (last summer) that would come to my back yard every morning to eat the bird food I spread on the ground for the doves.

Those frickers will come land and walk on our roof at all hours of the night. Weirdest shite I've ever seen.

They will continue to increase in population at your place. There's not a ton of knowledge on them yet, but they're spreading like wildfire from the gulf coast up to Tennesee and even Kansas. Usually disappear by Halloween.

They have absolutely taken over in St. Gabriel / Spanish Lake area. I see 40-50 a day in my neighborhood.

Yep, we have 6-10 that come to our pond every afternoon here in Fairhope. They showed up at the start of May and keep hanging around.

Odd ducks for sure, and their whistling is super unique. I'm just hoping they don't mess with the Wood Ducks nesting in the area but I don't know much about them.

There will not be any wood ducks with them around.

I’m Evangeline Parish we call them Mexican Squeelers.

They are fricking with our wood ducks which is why they needed to be added to early teal season so we can at least try to get the numbers down some. Plus they taste good I hear.

Well that’s all I needed to know. Hope they enjoy their last few months of friendship.

Opening them up during early teal season would be clutch.

The muscovys will pester them unendingly. When l got some muscovys many years ago, my dad told me to get rid of them. He said "Those damned things will screw your roosters" and they sure as hell tried.

Huge population in my neighborhood near Springfield… have a neighbor who feeds them every afternoon. They cover her back yard. She counted around 70 a couple of afternoons back…

Your mallards won’t have a prayer if the squealers invade their habitat

The only time I’ve had a chance to shoot ‘em was in one of my best holes. The young hunters passed on them bc “I ain’t putting that in a photo”. They randomly pop up around the house, but I still don’t have them patterned like the Canada geese, lol.

They are in my wood duck boxes AND in the water oak hole where the woodies used to nest.
