No need to blow gasket. I fish all the time and before I weighed it, estimated at least 9, was surprised it weighed what it did. Hated to keep it but dis not want replica. They look fake.

To bad there isn't a way to have it mounted with out having to take the fish off her bed.

yea like a replica or something. Someone should invent that.
Way to remove some great genes in a fish full of eggs.

So, to satisfy your own pride you feel comfortable taking excellent DNA out of the bass gene pool?

Sorry, but this makes no sense to me in this day and age of needing to conserve our fisheries. Only keep what you eat. And don't eat the big ones.

If you want a momento, take a picture.

Sweet fish. I've been searching for anything (LM) above 7lb and I always come up empty handed.

Hey Sgt Hulls, next time a trophy deer steps out in front of u, take a picture. Oh u probably are someone who doesn't hunt or fish and has no idea of the time and money invested to catch or kill a trophy of a lifetime. Taking one fish out of the biggest oxbow lake in the country will not negatively impact the bass population.

Sorry dude, but there is absolutely no good reason in this day and age to keep a bass like that. Replicas are the way to go. And then to brag that she was full of eggs

LINK

I am jaded because the lake I grew up fishing was absolutely full of big bass and every spring 1 or 2 guys would keep a fish like that and nowadays that lake sucks.

The only thing I can say about keeping a fish that big is to make sure you keep the backbone after you filet her. That's the good sweet meat. Nice fish.

If he wants to get that fish mounted, than that's his choice. His reason for keeping it is that he's proud of it and wants to get it mounted and that's by a long ways a good enough reason.
