this was asked earlier in the thread, but i pose the same question to you:

what about a trophy buck? do you shoot him and have him mounted, or take a picture of him and have a replica made?

If he is bigger than the previous trophy buck then take him, if smaller or similar size I'm letting him walk

I think its different seeing this fish was full of eggs. I'm not a fisherman, but I would have done the same thing as the OP. And I would shoot the trophy buck...obviously

You should get a sig pic made of a deer tied to a tree and some guy getting ready to blow his shite away for comic purposes. The thought just came to me for some reason

Thats obvious. I guess i just get a kick out of the way some posters are responding to the bass being kept. I agree with the incentive programs that pay for your replica mount if you release the fish but they are simply that...an incentive. Not law. We got some commies in disguise up jn here.

I will say the differnce is there is a realistic option that allows you to release the fish and allow it to lay her eggs and you also get a throphy on the wall. You do not have this same option with a deer.

I will say the guy didn't do anything wrong and is well within his rights to keep said fish. It is a beautiful fish and something to be proud of no doubt.

I will keep and mount my first bass over 8 lbs.
I'm not saying you shouldn't but I choose to take pictures and measurements and release mine because of stories like THIS

quote:

Amazingly, TPWD records show that this bass isn’t the only double-digit monster entered multiple times into the ShareLunker program. At least six fish have been caught and re-entered, and one Lake Alan Henry monster was entered into the program three years in a row.

Yes you do. You could take a picture of it and get a replica set of horns made.

That's pretty cool. I would release something that big. I'm mostly talking in the 8-10# range.

How can you tell measurements from a picture of horns. It's not the same thing.

But I have seen people make a mount out of sheds they have found.

Well shoot it with a tranquilizer and measure em and let it go.

Sounds pretty stupid doesn't it?

We were going to do that with the deer in my avi but the rats had already done work on one of his sheds by the time we found them
