Grizzlies were everywhere out west before settlers killed them off. I get why ranchers don’t want them back but that’s a fearmongering article. There’s already evidence that grizzlies have started to spread back into parts of Idaho

There's a reason the settlers killed out all the Grizz and Wolves and everything else that killed all their herds and farmers.

The settlers brought domesticated animals into and apex predators territory and then killed them off to minimize their losses. Like I said, I understand why they did it, but I also get from a conservation standpoint why they want to reintroduce grizzlies and wolves. It was their natural habitat where they flourished before outside interference. The article is written to make it sound like grizzlies will be put there and they will hunt humans. The natives competed with bears and wolves for thousands of years for the same food sources and neither killed each other off.

I'm perfectly OK with the local population shooting them when they become troublesome....

Just like Canada…..the grizzlies want ranchers to leave one cow on your front porch so they don’t break in and kill your family.

While we are at it, let’s reintroduce the short faced bear.

20-25 years ago wolves were reintroduced and the same fear porn was put out. I’m sure ranchers did S3 on many problem animals. Have to make sure they don’t have tracking collars you need to send down stream.

Or like the wolves that suddenly appeared on central Nebraska ranchland and ended up falling off of an overpass into westbound empty coal train cars headed back to the mines in Wyoming.

I’m in favor of anything that makes this country a little more wild and helps preserve large, wide open spaces. We have too many damn people in this country and president numb nuts doesn’t get the fact that bringing in millions of illegals does more to hurt the environment than any kind of modern vehicle emissions.
I feel like ranchers should be given reasonable compensation for verified losses but should also realize that many of them are using public/blm land. Ranchers seem to think they own the entire West. If they can’t deal with wildlife, find another line of work

Yea, same. The overblown fear of a pack of wolves being reintroduced is one of pussiest things I've ever seen. You OT'ers talking about how they were afraid to take their family camping now. There's been something like 4 or 5 wolf attacks in the US in the past 50 years or so and one of them was a pet wolf Wolves aren't out there hunting down humans. If a farmer loses a cow to one, the government needs to compensate him, fairly simple. Wolves are an extremely awesome animal and there needs to be more of them in the wild, just help a poor ol farmer out if they do happen to get one of his 2,000 cows on his 5,000 acres.

To be fair, his team heard someone talking about bears and they just thought it was referencing hairy gay dudes, so the jumped on the opportunity to push that.

At least the Feds rejected the proposal to reintroduce jaguars to New Mexico recently. LINK

Historically the used to range as far north as CA, AZ, NM, TX and LA

What could go wrong?

Feds brought the wolves back to Colorado. Here’s one in my kid’s neighborhood looking for a snack -

Wolves don't kill just one or two cattle

They will wipe out all the calves on a killing frenzy. It is well documented they will kill for amusement vs necessity to feed

The comments whenever Colorado Wildlife makes a post about wolf re-introduction are filled with tough guy hunters whining about all of the bad things that they know that'll happen.

A good friend was bow hunting in northern montana last year and was stalked and in the process of being encircled by the pack of wolves. A 10mm shot at one disrupted their plans. If he didn’t have that Glock then he was dinner.
