And where did that get the natives?
The same place as the bears and wolves, eradicated from their native home. The settlers replaced entire populations of people and animals for their benefit. But let’s not compare 1850 to 2024. I think they can handle herd losses today much better than back then. No reason they can’t exist together.

A good friend was bow hunting in northern montana last year and was stalked and in the process of being encircled by the pack of wolves. A 10mm shot at one disrupted their plans. If he didn’t have that Glock then he was dinner.
I'm sure.

The natives competed with bears and wolves for thousands of years for the same food sources and neither killed each other off.
Impressive for the wolves and bears since man killed off about half the large mammals in the Americas millennia ago.

20-25 years ago wolves were reintroduced and the same fear porn was put out. I’m sure ranchers did S3 on many problem animals. Have to make sure they don’t have tracking collars you need to send down stream.
Or 25-30 green tips will move them along and they will die elsewhere.
Hogs get that treatment here. Anyone who has had to clean out a rotting hog carcass from a disk or even worse a drill or combine knows what a mess that is.

There’s already evidence that grizzlies have started to spread back into parts of Idaho
Because no one is shooting them!. If they are introduced then they must be managed, unlike the wolves have been. I don't have a problem with them or the wolves being reintroduced, I have a problem with the federal protections at the states levels. The states should be able to have seasons and set limits.

You could say the livestock was introduced and the local predators were managing them accordingly. Why do livestock that are raised literally everywhere take precedence over animals that are geographically specific to that area? I get it was people’s livelihood 200 years ago. Not so much today
