I know we have discussed this a lot here but I think this time it’s gonna happen. This asshat is gonna ban ARs. The question is how far will he go?

He can’t by EO. ATF can reclassify them as non sporting under the 1968 GCA. This would effectively make them Class III weapons subject to the NFA registry.

He has signed many EOs that we’re unconstitutional. What makes you think he can’t on this?

Because they know the ink wouldn’t dry on it before a court would rule it unconstitutional.

And how many of those were overturned by the courts?

they cant do that due to Heller. Heller said all commonly used weapons are protected under the 2A. the ATFs opening paragraph on their last order specifically stated "The AR15 is the most widely owned gun in the US."

I get your point on this. He'll probably try and fail but it just causes the 2A to be in the spotlight, which we never want.

If they overplay their hand, they could get an expansion of Heller and a restriction of the ATF's authority over ridiculous things like SBR/SBS.

What about capacity restrictions? I can definitely see an EO banning high capacity mags. And stop with the downvotes! I’m one of us. I own…….nevermind, you see there was this terrible boating accident ??

Pretty sure there is a court case going through the system now specifically about this. A year or so ago a based California judge struck down the ban on “high capacity” magazines as violation of the second amendment in part due to they are actually “standard” capacity magazines because of how common they are

I don't know where it started, but I have paid attention since Clinton was in office, and it never fails.

Democrat in the White House. Goobers scream "he's coming for my guns!"

Never happens, mind you, but millions of guns get sold.

Clinton, Obama, Biden. Not one of them have shown up at my door demanding my guns.

You folks know better, I assume. I hope.

To be fair under Clinton there was a ban on ARs. I never said anything about anyone coming to my door. Even the most extreme liberals know that would be a disaster and a fight they would lose

you must not have been paying much attention, because there were bans Clinton imposed.

What a waste of time. What are they going to do about the millions of 30rd PMags in existence?

All this is window dressing.

Man I wish I had some cheap ARS to sell for double what I paid to all you fear mongers. I have been hearing “bans are coming” for 40 years! My gun industry buds have made fortunes. The good news is my ruger stock will surely go up.

Btw define AR for me in a way it could be defined separately from any other semi automatic rifle.
