Best Side by Side?

I am getting a side by side but not sure what kind. Main use will be for hunting trails to & from stand and just cruising around the land. I know Polaris seems to be the most popular. Just curious on people’s experiences with different brands and if anybody thought they got a really good deal at particular place.

There are a lot of good side by side makers, but the best will be of the best quality and have the pedigree. Holland and Holland and Purdey are the cream of the crop.

I think he might not be describing a fancy shotgun.

We've got the Kubota 1140 and love it.

He isn't but I can't resist...

I bought a Can Am Maverick about a year ago. I love it, but if I had to do it again, I'd go either a Ranger or Defender. Something a little more utilitarian and can easily fit my kids.

If you don't care about being flashy or going fast, a Mule is hard to beat.

I bought a used Viking. I have been looking for a long time, not in a big hurry, and when this one came up I knew I was buying. Owned by an old guy for getting around on his property, 120 hours, didn't look like it had ever been in mud or water, original tires, etc. Perfect UTV and half the price of new.

I have had a Viking VI Ranch Edition for just over a year. Tough as nails and absolutely bulletproof for the applications you're describing. Most comfortable ride on the market, and a three seater is produced if you've no need for the six seats.

I've had a mule 4010 and currently have a ranger 900xp. I have no complaints about either. I like the power of the ranger compared to the mule, but the mule is hard to beat for price.

Honda, Polaris, Can Am all make good machines. Deere and Kubota are good for work but not as zippy on the trail. Drive them all and see what you like best, look at the dealer, and weigh the finance options vs. price.

The Mule and Kubota RTV are for working . I’ve had my RTV 500 since 2009 and it’s been great. It’s slow and heavy but it’s reliable and will get the job done. I hope to have it for many more years. I use it to ride the trails at home, haul seed/tools, pull a small trailer, and other general chores. It can take some mud but I try to avoid that. It’s not built like the Rangers, can am, etc. Just look at the frame and suspension and you’ll see the difference.

I have a 2008 Kawasaki Teryx NRA Ed. Other than routine servicing, a couple water temp/fan switch sensors, and a set of tires, has been absolutely bulletproof. Only 2 seats, engine in between (gets warm in summer), smallish dump bed, but fast as a whip. Governed to 50 mph, but takes little time to get there

I have a 2020 Ranger XP1000 EPS. Had an O2 sensor go out in first 6 months. Had rats chew through wires twice that put bike in limp mode. Apparently the wires are soy based that attracts rats. Other than that it’s been solid. Upgraded from a 2015 Ranger. Better ride, turning radius, and power. FYI upgrade the headlights to LED. It’s $40 and will be best money you spend.

Vikings are awesome. I'm still partial to the Kawasaki Teryx

Honda Pioneer. My buddy has a 1000 with back seats and he bought a 500 last season. That lil 500 is Pimp. Like a 4 wheeler footprint, but side by side. Can really get is tight spots with that thing. If I had an extra $8K laying around, no doubt, I would get the 500 Pioneer.

I went from a 800 Ranger to a 6 seater Viking and now into a 2020 1000XP Ranger Crew. I really liked the Viking in every aspect except that it is noticeably underpowered for a machine that size. I never really knew how bad until I test drove a 1000XP Ranger crewcab. The difference is night and day. I can't knock the viking in any other way than that. Ranger or Viking either one will be a good solid ride that will serve your purpose
