Picked up a couple traps and want to get opinions on what yall use for bait.

Marshmallows seem to be the consensus around the office. What works best for yall?

Small marshmallows works great. Leave a trail to it and then a pile at the back of the trap. Make sure the raccoon can’t reach into the trap and get them from the side. The coon will also reach over the trip bar to get the bait without tripping it.

Dry cat food has done me well in the past. May not for you if there’s a lot of ants in the area.

Also, if you’re gonna use a cable to go from the short chain then around a tree as most do… Use a tree with lower branches so the don’t take your trap to the top of the tree.

Guy at our club that traps a lot of coons swears but the mini marshmallows. He says they can't resist them.

I’ve just started trapping on my property. I’ve used cheap bag cereal from Dollar General, and used a large marshmallow to cover the end of the trap to keep rain out. Has worked so far.

Marshmallows dry cat food cereal sardines any combo, but get a big bag of those orange slice candies and cut one in half and slide it over the actual trigger of the trap, gets em every time

Honey buns never fail me.

Lay honey bun on the ground, set trap on top with it under trip lever.

Secure the trap with cinder blocks so they can't reach inside.

Mini marshmallows with sardine oil and maraschino cherry juice. Kool aid powder mixed in works too. Put it in a jar and pour some of the juice around the dog proof trap. Make just enough to bait that days set(s).
Drop the mini marshmallows into the dp trap.
Stake your traps down with a chunk of curved rebar and tie the tail end to a tree with wire.

Look up Wildmans Hammertime on Facebook. He will ship it to you. It’s a mix of fish pellets and corn coated in oils and other scents. It will hammer them. You can still use a marshmallow on the trigger and the bait on top.
