Elton Kennedy's farm broken into Woodsland and Richland Plantations on Highway 15 a little South of Monroe. It's all rice with some scattered cypress brakes. I have no clue how many total pits and blinds are out there but they are leased by some upper echelon North LA individuals and if you add the total kills of every one up for a season I bet year in and year out, that place would probably be the clubhouse leader in the entire state of LA.

In the 90’s it was very consistent & pretty jam up.... but our place at the LADP was just as good, if not better, for big birds, over a longer timeframe. We have a group of guys that hunt both.

Elton’s places on HWY 15K - over the past 10 years - have not been very good at all. Sans a couple good hunts a year, it’s not worth it. Some years - no good hunts. So bad, in fact, we had 2 groups that have been out there for 20+ years, in historically very good blinds - quit.

Hardly, cameron parish at one time was #1 for a parish/countee in ducks killed. When you say NE La; Madison, tensas, EC, WC, ouachita, Mohouse, Caldwell, that’s considerably more ac.
Much of the M O Miller property is solid as is the Gray Estate west of 27. Vermilion has some primo stuff between schooner bayou and P I north & south of road. Miami has some great stuff in GC.

Boss, I know nobody really wanted it to get out at the time, but before I left that area, I heard a number for consecutive limits of green from whats now called the Sammy.

I want to say the number I heard was 44, does that sound about right?

I hunted Grosse Savanne before it was GS back in the 80's.
It was fantastic. Always killed tons of green heads and pintails

I also hunted Grosse Savanne back in the 70s/80s when it was called Big Pasture. In fact our group at first didn't have to pay for the lease. We had a lot of great hunts as outlined above. In fact I hunted it with Canyon. But today I'll bet there are no longer any mallards as they are short stopped somewhere up north.

Way too many variables. Our blind is at 513 ducks for the season. This is fairly low for us. But some blinds on the farm haven’t killed 200. So results vary greatly even on one particular property.

There are some very good pits on that farm that have been tied up with the same owners for much longer than that. You are exactly right though about the big ducks kinda being void out there, but that is across the board in NE LA. Gadwalls are probably the number one bird killed out there and these days, you better not pass on Hollywoods either.

I would love to know which groups bailed out. We generally know most of the owners and the pits Gordon guides out of out there and I can promise you the best pits (most are on the Richland side) will never be given up.

That sounds about right. At the time we built that blind, i would put it up against any blind in LA. Our other blind in there wasn’t bad, either.... nor the tree blind north of Collins Rd that was sold to RC. All of them 1000+/season duck blinds & we didn’t shoot jacks or shovelers.... shot teal as off ducks early - then waited on the big ducks.

We've had years where our marsh club killed 10 blinds, 3 man limits, every day but Christmas. However, not in a few years. So I'd assume whoever is claiming to be the best has declined significantly in recent years.

The one I would have put up for nomination before, just off 717 I wouldn't put up now.

I usually hunt there once/twice a year. They had some good hunts but were slow this season compared to normal years.

I know of a place in SWLA which has to be the consistently-best specklebelly property in the state...

Would that be an area known as the "T******** Farm" that no one is to speak of?

Cameron Farms (Moore-Odom Ranch) near Gum Cove used to be legit. Don't know how it is these days; haven't hunted there since the 90's.
