It was someone's scared as hell little son who was left behind and lost...........and you killed him because you blindly shot into the brush.

I have a similar story. Was in college and due to a fraternity "kidnapping" (the details of that are an entirely different story), i end up duct taped to a chair in the middle of the woods out in BFE. The pledges called the actives and told them my whereabout, and left. I had a 40 (the popular urban beverage, not handgun) that i managed to smash against the chair and used it to cut myself free. Its pitch black, and i start making my way towards where i remembered the dirt road being, couple hundred yards away. All the sudden i hear myself being stalked. I take a few steps, it takes a few steps. I stop, it stops. I get to the dirt road and i get minimal visibilty due to the moon lighting up the lighter color if the dirt road. Luckily i held on to the broken 40 bottle, and decided this is where i make my stand. I sat perfectly still for a good 5 min and i hear it creeping very slowly towards me. So im standing there, broken bottle held out in front of me ready to get it on with what could only be a black panther or something of that nature. Then i heard the pipes, and a few minutes later saw the headlights.

This is why you carry an extra assault rifle when hunting and just start popping off as needed

Like I said earlier, DUMB!

You don't start shooting because you hear something in the bushes. For one it gives your location to the attacker and two it leaves you with less ammo.

Didn't mention the safety aspect on purpose

Yeah 'bush shooting' is just infuriatingly stupid. And to admit to having done it, not once, but starting it's own thread...

Gotta call troll on this.

But there are people this stupid so who knows?

Personally if you'd done this on my place you'd never come around me again.

I've never seen a need to bring a fully automatic rifle in the woods. Semi auto is more than enough.

I had some similar shite go on, but it was in the middle of the day. It was following me up and down some pine tree rows, but just a few rows over. Honestly started banging sticks on trees pretty hard. I hustled back to the truck and got my pistol, and just finished what i was doing. It did it one more time, and I crouched on the ground to see if I could see anything, but didn't. Sat there for a while and didn't hear anything until I moved again. I got back to the truck and drove around and didn't see anything in the woods, and spent about 30 more minutes in the woods. Didn't hear anything after I rode around in the truck.

Freaked me the frick out, and I hadn't ever heard that squatches bang sticks on trees at that time. I was shaken up the whole 2 hour car ride home

I did not just start shooting randomly in the woods though. I don't shoot at things I can't see
