did he try walking any before he went all ballistic shooting in the air?
All I know is he was on a 200 acre lease. You should be able to walk 1/4 mile and hit a fence. Follow that will eventually lead to the road in. I think Roger is safer with the bears than we are with some hunters.

I definitely did not like it. I used to stumble upon all kinds of crazy stuff in the woods like an old car just sitting in the middle of nowhere with no roads in sight, or a random house with nothing leading to or around it.
That day, I was maybe 2 or 3 miles away from anything else. Started out that every time I walked through this section of hardwood thicket. It is very odd having something following you and flanking you in the middle of the woods and banging sticks on trees. I could've gone without having that happen and been just fine. I kept telling myself that it was just a huge woodpecker. Had to spend what would've normally been another 2hrs there, but hustled and got done in 45 minutes

Ok guys,
First of all I yelled "You need to identify yourself" "Hello", "Who is there?" "I am going to fire a warning shot" "Stop right there" "Do not come any closer or I am going to shot at you" etc the whole damn time.
I was positive it was an animal. It was a bog no person would want to walk though at night anyway, and would certainly be louder.
I was on private property with a locked gate with my car visible from the road me so all a Greenie would have to do was wait for me at the gate, although I have yet to see one. Anyway, ........
It keep coming. I has shooting down into a bog so I knew the shot would not travel though the woods.
My thoughts at the time were it was a huge snake maybe an anaconda that some jackleg let loose or get away and it was hungry and picking me up on his heat sensor. (Yeah I saw the damn discovery show on them running wild all over south Florida.) It sound just like a big rattlesnake moving though leaves and such but about 10x bigger. And that would explain why it wasn't responding to my yells or shots.
It had been in the mid 70's week before and my daughter stepped on a big snake in a field and another guy saw a huge rattlesnake under one of our stands as they had clearly starting moving around.
I was carrying my climber, gun and back back so I was fully loaded and could move very fast to begin with. I decided to leave the climber and backpack on the ground (Could get them when I got to my car) and pulled out my combat knife before I fired as figured it was probably better than rifle if something jumped on me anyway.
A few days later when I told this story to my hunting buddies, one of the ole timers quickly told me what it was...
a couple of damn armadillos.
zacattack wins.
They can't hear worth a damn, so couldn't hear me yelling shooting etc, don't see well and must of just been coming my way the whole time. It appeared to me that they moved toward me as I moved down the road but they must of just been following a game trail in the bog running parallel and then toward my position. Had to be a small group of two or three of them.
Armadillos never crossed my mind, as I haven't seen any out there all year. Goes to show you how your mind can jump to conclusions when your adrenaline gets pumping and you are alone in a dark deserted section of the woods with bear signs all over.
Glad to see I don't have to worry about "creatures" (Other than bear and snakes) in my favorite hunting spot, but I will not forget my damn "monster" flashlight again. At 2 million candle power It lights up the whole damn woods.
(One pissed off 300 lb bear was enough for this year)

I have been tracked by "wolves" and "coyotes" and had stuff watching me from the woods that I never saw many times but I always knew what it was or had a idea. I even heard the pissed off bear once we got on the stand.
I used to kill Armadillos for my grandfather when I was little several times a year as he lived on a river basin and hated them. Never heard them sound like that before. (We would flood their holes and clubber them or shoot them as they came out.)
Sorry guys but two warning shoots and tons of yelling and making noise and you are still coming at me this night freaked me out. Not saying it was correct thing to do at all. It clearly was not. I have been hunting fro decades and this was the first time. I am sure everyone on here does everything correct and proper every time like unloading your weapon before you start down, or up into your stand, leaving before dark, using a harness even when climbing up into a tree stand, etc.
It clearly was not correct and I know better. I had flares, pepper spray and other options, but I am telling this as a cautionary tell, if something just keeps coming at you in the woods and it is low to the ground, think Armadillo. Unless you are in Florida swamp around Miami, then run for your life.
And don't leave your damn flashlight in the truck.

So now I am the only retard that had a squatch stalking me?
I snapped a couple of pics, but dropped my phone in the water.

Never a good idea in the woods.

No, you're just the only one who knows they were stalked. Sqatch usually goes undetected to most of us.
