Again, it all depends on if it’s a true warranty issue. As said if it’s caused by chemicals like bug spray eating them away that’s not a warranty issue. I’ve never had this issue but it’s been well discussed. Their warranty is for a product failure like any warranty, not for being mistreated by the users. Not saying that’s what you did, but that’s why they don’t offer free replacements for broken glasses.

I requested Costa to repair them. They said they didn’t see an issue. A company should perform the service requested by a *customer* and bill appropriately if required. I didn’t ask for anything for free. I asked for my glasses to *be* fixed twice, and they said they wouldn’t after two independent requests. The issue is willingness to perform a service based on a customer request, and not the cost of the repair.

Bottom line is they failed twice.

Maybe they simply can’t repair them. Benchmade can’t recoat a blade, a request I made, and so-be-it...Glasses are pressed in a mold or whatever, and some parts of the manufacturing process can’t be duplicated after.

They didn’t say “this can’t be repaired” which speaks to their lack of customer service, lack of clear communication, and lack of willingness to please their customer. They offered no apology, alternative solution, or suggestions and simply closed those ticket without further questions or contact to the customer. If they wanted to please the customer or even meet the customer half way they could have yet they chose not to. I submitted two separate tickets and both went unresolved. The pictures and descriptions I provided clearly detailed the issue that was requested to be repaired.

The simple fact is that they failed to act on a customer request for repair on two unique inquiries. This speaks to their level of service. It wasn’t and still isn’t about the money.

I have been shopping around for new glasses as my Costas need to be replaced due to rubber coming off. They are pretty old and discontinued; I assumed it wasn't going to be something the company wanted to cover or the fee to replace wasn't going to be worth sticking with the brand after hearing quality control issues (which may be hearsay).

After reading this thread it seems apt to try the warranty process before shelling out 150+ on a new pair. While this wasn't my thread, I appreciate all the responses.

I used them about 7 months ago. Had 2 pairs sent in and had total replacements. It was a little bit of a PITA, had to call and check on status a couple times. But they did send me 2 new pairs, so it was worth the couple month wait.

I get a pair of $13 shades from Walmart that are polarized. They look good enough, and I don't get pissed off when the lenses inevitably get scratched up.

I have a rotation. The new ones stay in the truck for driving, fishing or leisure activities; the scratched ones are used for yard work.

Once the new ones get scratched, they are moved into the yard work position, and a new pair is purchased for driving, fishing or leisure activities.

I’ve had 2 pairs replaced due to the rubber separating.

Reading this thread it sounds like it's just kind of hit or miss. Guy I work with got denied a warranty claim and he was pretty pissed about it. I had a really old pair that I literally found in my junk drawer in my shop. Wore them a couple weeks and sat on them in the truck and broke a lens.

Decided I'd try it out and did the warranty page and sent the picture in. They emailed me and informed me that those had been discontinued some time ago (so long ago, in fact they still had the old 400 lenses instead of the 580. I had no clue but apparently the new lenses are way better ) but told me to pick a new pair from the website and pay shipping for them. I've got a new pair of Costa's for around $20.

I'm not saying I'd intentionally cause damage (that has show to be "under warranty") and have a friend submit a claim for me, but.....

Yes, rubber was coming off, but lens /frame combo was discontinued so they gave me a new pair.

This thread made me fill out a claim on my old brings. Rubber discolored and falling off. Filled out info, sent pics, warranty approved and shipping label inbound.

Same, had an old pair missing the rubber nose piece. Filled out warranty claim and they responded in a couple days with a shipping label and a tracking # for the new shades.
Seems my only cost will be sending the old glasses back to them.

*I remember having more issues with them a couple years ago.

I just decided to submit a claim for mine. The rubber on the arms has separated. I've had them 4 of so years. I couldn't read the product model code. Hopefully that wont cause an issue

I had no idea when mine were purchased. +5 years ago, threw in a random date and had no issues. Mailed the old pair back to them yesterday $1.50 for the box.

I put in a claim this past Sunday and got a email this morning. Broken lens and a little weathered frame. They shot me down but sent me a 30% off coupon.

Same here. Since mine were not in production anymore, they gave me multiple options of the Harpoon design to pick from as they resemble my old pair in style. While I probably wouldn't have picked that style if I was buying a new pair, can't beat free.
