I don't know much about EVs. I admit it. But I have a simple question: Why can't you recharge the battery in a hybrid while you are driving and your vehicle is being powered by the gas engine?

After they have been around (mass produced pure EV) for awhile. Let them work out all the bugs and kinks and get more infrastructure in place.
I’ll probably own a hybrid in the next 1-2 years

Until I can get the range that I get out of 35 gallons of petro im not buying one. Also I don’t want my range determined by the temperature outside.
When they can match my vehicles range no questions asked I’ll consider it.
So at least 10 years down the road if I had to guess. But these are not “clean” vehicles like environmentalists claim

So, honest question, how much will it cost when, not if, you need to completely replace that EV battery and are they readily available?

Not as much as you probably think. I'm hearing somewhere around $350.

I'll never buy electric unless they quit making gas. I don't give a shite if it's $10 a gallon. Electric vehicles are a farce when it takes fossil fuel to mine everything in the battery. Ridiculous.
Gas and diesel isn't going anywhere for over 100 years.

Not looking for electric but I bought a bronco sport this weekend gets 30 mpg with the inline 3 cylinder. Will roll it the next year and a half then give to my teenage son. Will save me $300 a month on fuel compared to my diesel. Was gonna need to buy one in 18 months anyway high fuel and availability made me do it sooner.

Wife has ‘22 Prius -56 mpg
I have ‘21 hybrid Highlander 35 mpg
We have ‘16 Prius grandson in college drives-52 mpg
When Toyota comes out with hybrid or electric Tacoma I’m getting one.Electric truck would work for me for local driving, fishing.
I personally wouldn’t want a pure electric for road trips but we love our hybrids.

all these down votes :rotflmao:. People sure are sensitive to anything electric, LOL. Oh, sorry, electric vehicles are manly enough... so just walk around grunting and spitting your tobacco in a bottle.
Anyway, not everyone that drives a truck takes the damn thing off roading, but it'll be interesting to see what comes out in the next few years while gas will rise above $5 a gallon.

The politicians are invested heavily in "green energy". The gas hikes are on purpose to send people to EV'S. I am not falling for it. They have been open about forcing insane gas prices for years and finally got their chance.
Also, I am not into strip mining the earth for the minerals needed to build the batteries. There is nothing "green" about that.

I recently drove a 4x4 F150 EV and let me tell you i was super impressed. And with a fully loaded "lariat" package equivalent for $47-$50k and from dead battery to full 425 mile 150kwh battery for $27 aint bad!!! talk about acceleration and handle, i honestly couldnt get enough. Im not running out to buy one now but they are for sure a player in the market.

I recently purchased a 2021 F-150 Powerboost Hybrid and I love it. Has the 3.5 twin turbo ecoboost and a electric motor.

This is the OB. We pull campers, boats, ATVs, etc. We're years away from this.

There is n free lunch when it comes to energy. Energy used by the engine to recharge the battery is energy not available to move the vehicle down the road . That will reducible the MPG, and high gas mileage is the reason hybrids exist.

I'm not against EVs, although their owners are typically obnoxious as hell.
I am against that.

I've had a Ford Maverick hybrid on order since November. Hope it will be built by early summer. I currently drive a 2wd Tacoma - the Maverick has a larger cab, more payload capacity and almost double the mileage. It is also very affordable to purchase. I've never owned a hybrid but look forward to the Maverick. My days of towing a large RV or trailer are over...I just want affordable transportation with mild truck capabilities (fuel, yard equipment, mulch, homeowner building supplies, hunting gear, etc.). While the Maverick is not for everyone, I think it will work for me!
