Easy, we have the infrastructure needed in place. Big leases with established stand and food sources statewide, Majority are management minded, By eliminating corn piles now you are not killing off so many young bucks and easy target doe. The deer will have to move more to find food source's. You'll see quality emerge fast followed by a stable larger population. I all for a statewide ban.
First off i Hope this passes with an amendment for food plots of a minimum size.

Second this state will explode in population and trophy quality fast! 5 years from today we will be a premier trophy destination.

Troll with jigs behind the boat and the trolling motor speed enugh to keep jig above grass. stay along grass lines. Youll do fine. ever time you catch one as you go back and forth mark it with a bouy. if you see a pattern develop where you are catching them in a location. Back off and throw between the bouys for more success. they will stack up in the grass this time of year.
you lost me at "spinnerbait" totally didn't read another word.
Man dont over think it. Ive killed 3 over the years. 2 with a .270 150gr power points and 1 with a .308 don't remember the bullet. all were pass thrus and jelly insides. None of the 3 made it 60-75 yards.

No need to over think it. Turkey hunting hasnt changed much in the last 50 years but the marketing of it has. Reg full choke and some #4's still kill birds like they always did.
Or you can join the "follow me" crowd and buy the latest choke out this year that they say is "turkey" or "super full" and then buy the $5 a shot ammo to go with it. heck might as well dip your gun a spring color phase too.

We literally bounced from tree to tree in 10-15 foot with those jigs. fish about 2-3 minutes and move to the next tree. They were there and hit it or they didn't. Covered as many trees as we could. We learned pretty quick if they didnt hit it first couple jigs down or casts to it. Just move on to the next one. Areas that had a lil grass of course had a better fish. Back of Mil Creek left side pockets was the most consistent. Second best was what we call ice box cove. Its the pocket behind the beach at Texas islands west side. Not much structure in there but better grass and WP quality was better
This coming Sunday I plan to go make a round (spread milo, millet and put a camera on those places) and see what's going on. We shall see

Friday all day and Saturday until about 2pm was amazing. I don't know how many we caught. There was 6 of us and we filleted fish 2 hours both days. We kept all the 2-2.5 lb bass and all the white perch. We caught some big arse WP on soft plastics just crazy. Went back after the WP with hair jigs and smoked em around visible structure. Took a quick pic and let the bigger bass we caught go. Fished the Outlaw yesterday and the biggest was a lil over 7 for one of our crew, and 4 of the 6 of us weighed in a 4+ and took home a lil folding money. It was cold and miserable but they bit.

Didnt go this past weekend and didnt hear anything good from any of my podnas that did go. I plan to be there Friday and Saturday as of now. Friday is gonna be the day and Saturday before lunch. Stay away from the banks. Concentrate on that 5ft -15ft range. Hug the bank but fish away from it.

I have always lived by one rule that has never failed me when putting an optic on a gun. ALWAYS look to spend equal or more on the optic as you did the gun.

corn and leave it standing. as the river flooding rises and falls they can get to the different levels of ears.

Six Mile and Sandy had plenty places to stay out of the wind. Threw a variety of lures. small soft plastic creatures like ultravibe craw and 4" lizard on 1/8-ounce lead Texas seemed to be the hottest. Trap and Chatter bite wasn't consistent in that wind. Stayed in less than 12ft of water all day. Banks were around 60-62 degrees in a couple spots but no real action up there yet. Biggest fish almost 5lbs probably boated low 30's kept our 16, dropped on some white perch for about an hour with very little luck and went home around 12:30
G&H can't beat em. Word on the street is they are about to build a huge store up on the interstate in Crowley.
Same basic scenario as you. We all shoot IC for wood ducks and Mod for Marsh and either #4, 5, 6. And of those 3 we mainly shoot #6's 75% the time. Haven't shot a full choke or tighter at a duck in 20+ years. All shots 40yds and in. For Geese we keep a few boxes of #2's around.

SWLA and we dipped probably 300-400 fish Wednesday and again yesterday morning. and I know the other boats we seen got at least that many maybe more. All the duck guides were going back and forth with ice chests full all day. This morning there must have been 30-40 boatsw headed that way i assume to do the same, word got out quick. I was surprised at the amount of flounder we found, wasn't expecting many of those in January. Started grabbing everything and then realized there is enough Specks, Reds and flounder there was no reason to fool with sheepsheads, sand trout and big croakers. Its pretty bad in large shallow areas. Ship channels and bayous did fine it seems.
