Yeah if I'm waking up before 4, I'm not drinking anything. Nothing like a day 25+ feet up in the woods where I feel just fine. Having to shite in the woods though, rather not.

I am always amazed at the amount of “said” alcohol consumption when I read any drinking post on any of these rant boards. I truly have no idea how some of these people function after drinking that much. Either they’re lying or they have super powers to recover from such abuse to do it over and over again. I can somewhat understand the 18 to 35 age of throwing back drink after drink as your recovery skills are probably pretty good. But after say age 50 why drink yourself into drunken oblivion ? Is it that fun?

I don’t drink, and never have. Never seemed like the risk was worth the reward to me.

My idea of great hunting deer hunting weekend is a morning hunt, followed by few beers during day. After that a little snack with evening hunt, followed by some toddy’s with a good meal over a hot fire!

Depends on the crowd. A bunch of drunk assholes is a terrible time. A bunch of good Ol boys and buddies throwing back some beers and bullshitting around a fire all night…I’m still in.

My retired and widowed neighbor drinks Busch Light all day every day. He’s 73. Nicest guy you’ll ever meet and healthy as an ox. Maybe it replaces your blood after a certain age?

Perfect weekend of hunting is

Drinking cold beer on arrival
Eat dinner
Drink more
Lights out at 9:30pm
Wake up, hunt
Breakfast
One cocktail
Nap
Afternoon hunt with beers
Cook eat
Get hammered all night
Hardcores can try to hunt Sunday morning

Go home

I'm retired and 47 and I used to do drink Busch Light daily. Now it's maybe twice a week unless I have the 5th wheel at the lake.

I had to tone it down because I realized that I was pretty drunk by the time mt wife got home from work every day.

a buddy and I killed 60 plus beers in an afternoon and night. We typically lay low the next night if we drink that many.

I wouldn’t feel safe around a bunch of drunks with firearms in deer stands.

Over 55. I don’t like how a hangover makes me feel the next day and manage my consumption accordingly.

If you are drinking this much you probably need to find a better place to hunt! The amount of time in preparation , scouting, Food plots, feeders, and so on. The last thing I want to do is go into the woods smelling like that shite! Probably don’t kill shite cause you stumble to the same stands over and over regardless of wind bedding areas in hopes to shoot anything!

Duck hunting going to crap has aided in the number of alcoholics at the camp too. They know they ain’t no ducks so drink all night and sleep in because they know they are not going to shoot! Hunting clubs have turned into bro clubs, feel sorry for their kids watch their dads doing this!

I drank daily for close to 10 years. Would get a good buzz during the week and pretty drunk on the weekends. I was so used to always feeling kind of shitty that I thought I was feeling pretty good. When I cut back to once or twice a week I had a different baseline of what feeling good actually is.

I'm definitely taking in a lot less.

I'll have a pour or two of bourbon at the end of the night. Maybe bring 1-2 beers with me to the stand.

It just doesn't sit with me like it use to.

I'm a recovering alcoholic. Drinking heavily was an everyday thing for me & it was much worse at the camp. I'm truly ashamed to say that I drank a 5th of whiskey and then climbed up in a deer stand more times than I can count. Luckily I never killed my self or hurt anyone else in the process. It's a tough thing to look yourself in the mirror and admit that you have a problem but it's way harder to do something about it. All of my friends drink as does most of my family, especially at the camp. But I had to make the decision to quit & I haven't had a drop since June 26th, 2021. 521 days & counting. One of the best decisions that I ever made.

For the record, I am not bothered by others drinking around me. I quit for me, not them. I had the problem & I fixed it. 1 day @ a time...

Stopped drinking beer and now drink a little wine on occasion. Had a daily beer habit, it’s a waste of time.

While I would add one or two more “drinks” in that list….this should effectively end the thread.

I shoot better with a hangover in the duck blind. Because i don't really wanna hear the gun shot lol. Time my shots better. Plus having a small pint helps curve the hangover.
