So admittedly Iam over 55 and did have my days of heavy drinking at the deer camp but what do y’all think now of this? Most of my and other adult kids and grandkids will drink something besides alcohol at deer camp or duck camp. But not us older guys. I see a lot of drinking still done at the 2-3 camps I get to and it often leads to a lot of BS and drama. As it always did. But also a lot of fun. What is the current thought on this from the old guys and new?

I still drink a lot at the deer camp.

6-8 with some people
12-18 with other folks
24-30 with my brother and one other buddy

That’s per day usually starting around 3:00 PM when I get in the blind.

I’m 41 and a lot for me is a buddy and I killed 60 plus beers in an afternoon and night.

We typically lay low the next night if we drink that many. Normally it’s around a 12 pack on an average if I drink in the blind if I’m half arse hunting. If I’m being serious I won’t drink in the blind and I’ll start drinking aorund the fire around 6:30 to 10:30 so around 8-10 beers.

As from my screen name it took me a long time to realize what I was doing to the people around me. Camp was a major cause of lots of my problems. Some relationships I destroyed will never recover. Getting into a camp that doesn’t outlaw it but also doesn’t promote it like the old one has been great. Lots of good hunts with my kids I remember by photo alone.

One year sober/clean October 15. I was an all day weed smoker, before, during and after hunts. I’ve had my most efficient and productive bow season this year without being high. Less mistakes, more accurate kills. It’s been a great season. No hangovers from drinking after hunts, means easier mornings. Not to mention not staying up all night for obvious reasons that keep one up all night at the table in the camp. Haha.

The only thing I didn't like about my last club was no alcohol on the property. One of the reasons I quit.

there is a point when stupid excess drinking at the deer camp creates to much conflict to continue. I left a good property because of stupid drunks

The people make a big difference for sure. When I first moved to NC and only had an embarrassing 3 acres, I joined a club way out in this area called Snowbird. It was less a hunting club and more a get fricked up and burn shite club

I left.
