Anybody know about the duck hunting at Fletchers Lake?

It's in Tensas/Concordia parish. Deer hunting info would be appreciated as well. We're looking to buy some property there.

One of the guys in my fraternity is from Ferriday and he knew I liked to duck hunt so we went to Fletchers Lake. He is more of a deer hunter but I guess he had a connection. Heck, for all I know we could have been trespassing but my buddy knows everybody in the world from that area so I doubt it. We smoked them. Mostly Mallards with one band. However, this was like 1992 so it is probably worthless info now in 2022.

Not sure about that lake particularly, but Concordia and Tensas parish usually kill ducks. There are definitely a shite ton of deer running around CenLa and NorthLa.
ETA: hunted the Tensas river due north about 20/30 miles almost straight north of that lake last season and killed teal, greys, mallards and sprigs. It was a good weather morning though so we had a push. I'd imagine you can kill ducks on that lake if you can get a blind in a good spot.

We hunt near there. Same story as many places.
Is anyone selling?

I stare at that place every time I pass by.

Yeah. Duck hunting crappy but some upside if things will get back closer to normal. The entire area is currently shitty - no ducks. Lake has vegetation issues that could be fixed with some to a lot of work.
Deer hunting is probably good given the area.
The lake is a cool place regardless.

I’m familiar with the lake and the tract for sale. Historically the lake has been very good.
In the last 7-8 years not so much.
Considerable effort is required to deal with the vegetation to have huntable open water.

What kind of vegetation are we talking about?

The lake is private so you won't be able to hunt/fish just anywhere on it without talking to the folks that own most of it.

I do to. It's about as ducky as a place can look. Often wondered if they killed them out there.

Not only is it private. But some of the people that own it can be some real assholes with no consideration for others. I got out of the lease i had near there, but the lawyers from Baton Rouge that own part of it , would do a lot of spotlighting for deer and over harvesting. Calling the GW was useless. Hunting went down from there so it wasn’t worth my time or effort.
This was 15 years ago so i don’t know how exactly it is now. But at the time there were a lot of Gadwall, Ringnecks and Mallards. Gators were good too, got my personal best of 11’ 1” on fletchers.

Hunted the west end a long time ago as a teenager when some of that was part of the clayton farms hunting club. Lots of thick vegetation, divers, and wood ducks. Deer hunting is probably pretty good by Louisiana standards.

Can you expound on this? Generally curious. Are you saying the lock backed the Tensas, Little Tensas and feeders up that used to flush lakes like this?

The Glade(s) and Tensas Lake, for instance, were mostly seasonally-flooded hardwood bottoms. All three lakes were full of snags 30 yrs ago.
Fletchers was full of button willow - only the old cypress remain on the main lake.
