With Southern Pride Charters?
Sometimes they announce this for an upcoming trip and the price of $650 a person seems good.
Just wondering how it may work out space wise with 15 total people on a 36 hour trip

You must not know how expensive it is to fish offshore.

Yeah he’s a damn fool. It’s like $2000 plus fuel for a private trip. And that’s not even for overnight trips:
I was just looking for something a little cheaper to bring my son on.

It might be a better experience if you can get a 6 pack together. I am sure the big boat is going to fun too, just a lot of people you don't know.

It's been my experience that people get to know each other pretty fast on a boat 100 miles in the ocean. Even a big boat. Big boats get real small when you can't see land anymore.

That’s a heck of a deal. I paid $1800 with tip for a day trip out of Sarasota a couple of years ago for 4 of us. That was on a 28ft center console.

My son and I went on one of their walk on snapper charters last year. My thoughts:

It’s a good value if you don’t have several others willing to pay for a full charter, but if you can, there are other, more capable outfits out there.

I was not impressed with their equipment… old penn rods and reels that were 10-15 yrs old at least. Drags weren’t that smooth, although I can’t say I lost a fish due to it.
I would have much preferred to bring my own setup and although they said I could, they discouraged it.

The boat is slow and easily half that trip will be motoring out and in. I did the 12 hour and 6 hrs was traveling.

There were 25 people on my charter and that many lines in at the same time was chaotic at best! I know the overnight one takes less people, so maybe it’s a better feel, but the snapper trip felt like one of the tourist fishing trips you take in gulf shores or Destin.
After taking the snapper trip, I told my son we would save up and just book a CC charter next time.

Fish Venice has been doing some similar trips with guys that can't fill the 6 spot. Check out their calendar.

Few friends of mine went on it and had a blast. They said it wasn’t crowded at all and smoked da tuna and each had 2 limits of snapper.

I went on a walk on snapper trip with them last summer. It was awesome and these guys fish hard as hell. Seas were over 4 ft and we were the only boat fishing. People getting thrown around and soaking wet. We kept fishing and put a lot of fish on the boat. Some people were inside crying they wanted to leave. Awesome time. I don't think you will be disappointed.

I have been on it. I liked it for what it is. Was a good value in my opinion. So you leave at 6am. Boat is slow and about 12 hours travel time and you should be fishing for 5-6ish that evening. Fish all night. They leave at 6 or so next morning and ride back is rest of time.

They give every group different color zip ties so if you go with a group of 4 any time y’all catch a fish you tell them your color and they put that zip tie on it. And they do it that way bc some people will go to sleep at 2 or 3 am and others will fish all night. The groups who stay up later and put more into it usually go home with more meat and that makes sense to me.

All around it was a good trip. It’s kind of luck of the draw on your boats group but I will say that they had good people on our trip and was easy to talk to every one on board. At end of day it’s just a bunch of people looking to catch some fish so you can usually find something in common. Very laid back. Crew was very good too and attentive.

Just know it’s a long ride in and out but they put us on fish. There are showers, and bunks to sleep in on way back if worn out. Which we def did. Any other questions on that specific charter feel free to ask and I’ll let you know. I took my son on it and he loved it.

My son and I did a walk-on trip with him for btm fish and had a pretty good time. They had 3 deckhands, 2 were really good and the other, Dale, was trying to get some arse the whole time.

Last year my good buddy went on a walk on tuna trip with Ed and had a great time. I would go, $650 ain't a bad price.

Last year my son and I went with King Marchand out of Dauphin Island, we left on a Thursday after lunch and came back Sat after lunch. We had a great time and had plenty action. I wouldn't hesitate to go on that trip again.

Comparing the 2. King had a better crew and the boat was nicer. Eds boat has more fishing room but it's not as nice.

That’s exactly what I would do.
5-6ppl $2600-3100

Money well spent and get the whole day. I would call and make sure y’all can leave prior to sun up and come back as sundown see what it will run you.

Excellent comment. Nothing more humbling than open ocean.
