Any idea why my dogs dig and EAT the dirt in this one little spot?

This has been going on for over a decade. Every dog I have or have had has dug here and eaten the dirt. Labs, beagles, goldens, gay arse golden doodles, mutts, they all have done it. I have fill d it in countless times. I've sodded over it. I've filled it with arse scorching hot sauces and cayenne pepper. Eventually they go back to digging and eating the dirt. As you can see it's not real big. Currently about 12" in diameter. But they will go down as deep as they can reach if I let them. There are no gas, water or utilities under the spot. It's crazy shite man. Any ideas what is going on here? They just started it again about a week ago..,

That’s the spot your ole lady squatted and took a horse sized piss one night after the bar.
They can smell it still and want a taste of that mellow yellow.

We had a dog dig up the buried hose that led from the downspout once. It was about 10 feet from the house There were rodents in it.

I've considered moles or something they are going after. But it doesn't explain the dirt eating. Most of that hole is dug by mouth

Have you tasted the dirt? Might taste good.

I’m gonna guess someone spilled some kind of mineral or salt at some point. Bout 4 years ago now I went scorched earth dropping little mineral sites around our deer property to see which ones they’d use, only put about 10lbs of salt with the rest of the stuff. I was worried I’d forget where I put them, but every spot gets completely dug up by the deer this time of year, even the ones that have been tilled and planted over multiple times.

Probably a dead body buried there.
A friend of mines' dad buries his fish carcass' in the same spot in his yard over and over. Maybe someone did something similar, or could be that's where someone used to pour their grease or something like that?
Could also just be a natural issue.
Maybe you could do something like put a boulder there.

I think it's got to be something like this for them to come back year after year and eat the damn dirt in this one spot.

I wonder if OP has checked on local missing persons and to see if the previous homeowner had any connection to them???

I filled the hole in again yesterday then covered it with Carolina Reaper hot sauce. That stopped them from digging/eating in that exact spot. But over night they started coming at it from an angle, like little canine directional driller/diggers. These bastards.
