I switched to a saddle 2 years ago and specifically bought a fanny style pack that converts to a meat hauler. ALPZ OUTDOORS PATHFINDER

I'm not a diaper dandy (I don't wear my saddle walking in and out) but even if I was, the saddle would not be an issue.

Why is this?

seems like the fanny pack would get in the way of the saddle no?

both would be around your waist

part of the point of the chest rig is that I wouldn't have to take it off and put it somewhere else once I'm set up in the tree

The guy from TheOutdoorGearReview swears by his Helikon Tex chest rig.

But his use is centered more around camping/hiking, not hunting.

I wear my saddle in. Strap sticks to my back pack.
Hang bag from tree once I'm settled onto platform and tied off.

I've forcibly removed my shirt pocket once shooting at a deer - no way this works for me. How does it (chest pouch) work for yall?

I like my draw length a little short, I find it helps me shoot across my body easier.

I've pretty much convinced myself to get one and if I hate it for hunting, I'll still find plenty of uses for it, like hiking and kayak fishing

Oh, not sure.

I take my fanny pack off every hunt.

I wear cargo style pants.

Gets it

Haven't carried a pack in almost 20 yrs. Have everything I need either in ront/cargo pockets or in pockets of whatever outer jacket I bring with me to the stand that gets pulled up at the same time as my bow.

A hint, I dropped my release at the truck years ago one time and jacked up the tree w/o it in my pocket. Had to wait on a grown one that passed directly below me about 2 min's after I realized I didn't have my release in my pocket.
NEVER again....now release goes on bow and is always there when I pull up the bow at the stand.

My best friend /hunting buddy used to bring a pack up the tree with him that was big enough for a three day safari hunt in the bush. After it got in the way of drawing on a P&Y a couple years back he scaled down to a pack @ half the size of a loaf of bread and is happy as hell he did.

No way I could store a bunch of stuff in cargo pockets. I hate shite moving around by my knees and whatnot.

I bought a sling pack this year. Goes over left shoulder and has heavy waist belt. When rifle hunting, the strap on my right shoulder always impedes shouldering the rifle. No more.

I like the idea of no or minimalist pack but I use mine to carry my sticks and pack meat out.

This season I cut my LW sticks and added permanent cable aiders. Game changer, wish I had done this the first day I got those sticks.

I cut my LW sticks down to 24" and love the pack ability now...care to elaborate more on your permanent aiders? May be my next mod.

Got them from double steps.

With three sticks which I cut below where the original middle step was I can get over 20’ including my platform.

If I stretched it could probably get higher but I usually don’t go very high.

The shorter profile is so much better packing in.

I have switched to the primos bowhunter vest. Has just enough pockets for what I need. I had it for two years before i had the courage to get rid of my backpack and have no regrets.
