Any bowhunters ditch the backpack for a chest rig?

I've been carrying around my backpack for my entire hunting career and it has just recently occurred to me that I really only use the small pocket on the front. The other 90% of the backpack is just full of crap that I never use.
I'm trying to become a bit more minimalist with my hunting set up, so I'm thinking about ditching the backpack and going with a chest rig.
Something like this from FHF.
>
I think this will be big enough to store the things that I actually use (gloves, facemask, headlamp, cellphone, grunt call) and I get get attachments for rangefinder and whatnot.
I also like that I would have everything close and wouldn't have to turn around to get something, like when I hang my backpack on a hook behind me.
Any cons that I'm not thinking about? I don't think it would interfere with my drawback.

I have a bino harness like that but it's just for my binos, range finers, wind check

I used a bino harness with accessory pockets. I feel like it has really cut down on my movement in the stand being able to reach forward, and cuts down on the bullshite I bring with me. Recently rigged up a waist pack with shoulder straps but it’s a work in progress, wish more companies made something minimal that can still carry a bow/stand without a sling.

I don't need binos. The stuff I hunt is so thick I can rarely see farther than 40 yards.
You wear your bino harness while stand hunting? Does it affect your drawback any?

I wear binos 100% of the time while bowhunting. Even in thick stuff.
No, it doesn't get in the way at all

a fanny pack is the way to go imo

I'm switching to a saddle next year, so a fanny pack is a no go

I guess I can see the usefulness of binos even in thick stuff, but I just feel like it would be another thing that I carry and rarely use

As long as it doesn't it should be great. I use a vortex bino harness and it has just enough room for my phone, binos, bullets, and headlight. Without binos a bunch of stuff would fit.
Bow hunting out of a stand with it I think would be a problem though, I think it would limit how far to the left I could shoot before it got in the way.

Would a chest rig not get in the way of drawing back? If you are hunting out a saddle i would think a small backpack hanging on the tree in front of you would be best.

Tetherd's Hys Strap and Hys Pro Pack are a must for saddling

another thing that I feel the chest rig would be great for is kayak fishing

I looked at a few of those, but just felt weird to me. I now just use a small backpack. just enough to hold my range finder, tree strap, grunt tube, gloves, flashlight, knife, thermacell and a water. When I get seated, I just hang it on the tree where I can easily reach what I need.

Stopped carrying a bag long ago.
I wear cargo style pants.
Right cargo pocket 6 reflective blood trail markers, and knife
Left cargo headlight, phone, release (on way to stand)
Right front pants pocket small roll vinyl coated tomato tie wire
Left front truck key
Bleat/grunt call on lanyard around neck
Front ghille suit jacket hand pocket, wind check, gloves, harness tree strap.
I hunt lockons and ladders mostly and bring a seat pad with me. I has an adjustable strap I hook around my waist to carry it like a fanny pack.
I would think a thick chest pack would impeded cross chest draws. At a min would need to practice with it on.

Its much more convenient to have it all on your chest than your back.
I use both. I generally hunt all day so I bring a little something for lunch, a half gallon of water and need a place to put clothes as it warms up so all that goes in the backpack. Chest rig holds the stuff I use through the day like binos, phone and compass or GPS. I like it a lot.

When Im using my saddle, I use a small backpack to strap my sticks to and carry any other gear I need.
On my summit, I attached two molle side bags and bring only what gear fits in those two bags.

Have never used a backpack. Too big, and already have a stand on my back. Medium fanny packs are more space than I need.

When I rifle hunt, I carry what I need in all my pockets.
When I bow hunt, I bring a fanny pack when I need more stuff.
When I sit all day I’ll bring a backpack to hold my lunch and extra clothes.

i like it. i went through the big section of my backpack the other day before leaving my truck for the stand that morning...
A few things i removed...
2 lb bag of starburst
3 of my 5 skinning knives
a 600Ma jump starter
2 beanies
2 pair of dotted gloves
18 AA batteries
i could go on, but you get the picture
