BEEVILLE, Texas - A Bee County man was cleaning the bathroom at his home when his 6-year-old son said he saw a snake slithering out of their toilet.

quote:

Wade Velock said he ran so fast he knocked down his son.

quote:

Deputy Lindsay Scotten found the snake, which appeared to be about 5 feet long, in the bathroom vanity, and then released it into the brush. It was identified as a blue indigo. It wasn’t hurt.

You go, girl!

It came out of the toilet? We call them corn snakes.

That fella needs to rename his son, “Sue.”

Two different species. FL, GA, and AL have the eastern indigo (Drymarchon couperi). TX and Mexico have the Texas indigo (Drymarchon melanurus erebennus).

Man, that is a hell of a big snake...I would have a hard time not shooting the place up if I saw that in the bathroom.

If there’s a snake in my house, there will be a fire.

Good move, lest you end up like my daughter. This 6ft indigo choked her out and swallowed her. I miss her. She was a good daughter.

OK, I am doing my own de-sensitivity therapy when it comes to snakes, but I didn't need to see that.

I sure am glad you got a photo of your daughter before she died. At least you have that to help you remember her.

thoughts and prayers
I'm guessing you didn't have to feed the snake again for, what, a year or so?

Still haven't fed him again. He's 13 feet long now. He's getting too big to keep. I'm going to have to flush him soon so he can live in the sewers.

Great. Maybe he can rid some of Huntsville of those feral cats that live there...cause people don't know how to take care of their cats....there might even be a few Caimans living in there too...you know the ones people buy as pets and realize it's basically an alligator?

yep, and a protected species in Texas since they eat rattlesnakes
the indigos I've caught and approached are very docile, just hunting for a meal

They are beautiful snakes. They are trying to reintroduce them into southern coastal areas.

Problem is...you'd be surprised how many people don't realize that.
