You’re good with 3” unless you ever plan to use that gun to shoot geese then you’ll want 3.5

You do you, but I duck hunt with 2-3/4" shells. I used to shoot 3" but I didn't like the recoil for what seemed to me like no better performance.

Am I the only one that thought it’s funny that Downshift uses a .375h&h on a 125lbs deer but a 3.5” 12g is too much.

Just messing with you Downshift.

Lol I fully expected him to say that he folds a 3.5 out and covers them with wax to make a 4in shell!!!

Lol I used to hunt with some ol boys like that, the only reason they didn’t hunt ducks with a 6in 8gauge was they couldn’t find one!!

Should use a blackpowder 4 gauge. Takes 5oz of #3 shot with half oz of powder. Puts it in a 5 ft diameter at 80 yards

3.5 are a waste of money in my opinion. Rarely shoot them anymore. I’ll take 3” 1550fps all day. That’s the way to go in my opinion.

3.5 only come out for speckle bellies. Good to have a gun that can take a 3.5 if you want.

But for only ducks. 3” is all you ever need.

Been shooting 3" for 10 yrs plus, and works fine for me! 3-1/2 is preferred for geese or if you enjoy getting punished you can use them to sky blast ducks. people would shoot a 4" if they had them so its all what you want. Choose your correct # shot shell for the situation.

Yea and lots of "duck guns" will have 3.5" chambers anyway. These days they will reliably cycle anything. There's really no reason to not get a 3.5" gun that i can think of

To that end, what is the down fall of shooting a 3.5” to everyone who says hell no?

I have an extrema and can hardly even notice a difference btw a 3 and 3.5. In my mind you get a few more pellets (maybe slightly slower) and a slightly more dense pattern. Seems like a win win scenario.

For me, recoil. I know guys who only shoot 3.5's but its not for me. I tried them once and thats too much abuse for me.

I like my little wimpy short shells

I shoot 3.5 #4s at ducks and 3.5 #2s for geese. Long shots in rice where I go. Don't notice the recoil at all really--figure why not have more "lead" out there--can't hurt. Works for me. I shoot over a box many hunts and the shoulder is fine. Maybe the Beretta kick off system works? or maybe I'm not a huge pussy?

Plus the 3.5s are easier to get online in the brand you want

I sometimes put a 3.5 in as my last shot, and I too have an xtrema 2 with the kickoff. I don’t notice a single difference in recoil either.
