What are you guys shooting lately? Looking to get away from the Remington loads. Was not happy with the lack of pass thru last year. No, I don't want to know of a better caliber.

Federal Premium 100grain Sierra Gameking will turn that 243 into a 7mag.

ETA: In my experience it'll leave a nice round Quarter size exit hole.

I have never had to do that. They have either bounced or dropped in sight.

I shot two doe last weekend with the Hornaday American whitetail 100gr. neck shots so no need to worry about blood trails. Lots of blood though.

I shoot a 6mm Remington and have used Hornady, Federal, Remington and Winchester, all in 95 grains.

No matter which maker, they all performed like a grenade, exploding on impact. None left exit wounds. Good thing about using a grenade, they didn't run 10ft. Most just collapsed immediately.

My experience as well using the 95 grain ballistic silver tips. Such a violent expansion that it causes massive damage. Wife shot a 200 lb 8 pt in the lungs and while it left no exit or blood trail we found it piled up 30-40 yds off the shooting lane. Wasn’t happy about the lack of blood but it still killed.

Also killed several large boars with that round but they were neck shots and fell on the spot.

I’m running 115 gr DTACS out of my .243 but I hand load them. Great long distance and hunting round.

Updated: 100gr nosler partition; 43.5gr Viht N560
Killed a few deer with it of all sizes, never had one run more than 20 yds or so. Shots were placed well in vitals, massive heart/lung damage. Exited thru...

My go-to. I'll let my wife shoot my .308. She's not a great shot and could use the larger caliber.

Was mine as a yute, but now my boy is using it. Fine gun, a Ruger M77 with a mannlicher stock. I killed many a deer in my younger days with that gun. Thanks for all of the reply.
