Yachts they are not and I get 8-9mpg with my Third Generation V6 Taco pulling similar boats.
Mine has more torque but they get better mpg when they are not towing.
I average 17mpg since bought new; they are getting 22mpg with their Fourth Gen i-4.

We all know that tow ratings are grossly over rated on every truck. Mfgs will never list their trucks Stopping ratings since you can never beat physics.
My 83 w/22R would take a mile to get up to 55 pulling an 18’ glass bass boat.

Theres aan SAE standard for tow ratings now, which includes stopping requirements. Its a fairly recent thing though.

Almost none of them. 13,500 pounds is about a 75hp tractor with water in the tires on a 30 foot gooseneck trailer.
But, they are based on an SAE standard at least

So all the towing arguments are pointless. If money is a big part of this equation get a car.
If you just want a truck (which I get), skip the 4wd. It's added expense, both up front and insurance/maintenance costs and it doesn't sound like you need it.

Had a friend come get my Case100c with a 3.5 and 22’ goose neck. That put him about 12,900. He only needed to pull it 6 miles. .75 miles down the road he was calling me to come finish the trip. He hardly got out of my camp, almost didn’t get stopped at intersection of the hwy.

Also a Tacoma is a little truck, which sucks as there isn’t much passenger room or room to haul shite. Get at least a half ton truck but not a new Toyota or GM. If you want a Toyota get one that is non turbo and about 4 years old or older.

I got a 2024 Tacoma TRD Sport. I got around 58,000 miles on it and have had no issues.

21, under 100k miles can be had for under 40k if you looking. Some are right at the 100k mark.
