Good. It is long past time we went away from the 1950’s model we currently use.

I’m sure the Dealers Association won’t go away quietly though.

From my experience, all of the GM dealers are miserable. You will see more consolidation. Smaller players exiting to make room for volume dealers. Gone are the day of your mom & pop dealer with friendly service. You have to have enough branches to spread your overhead out. Campus style is ideal. Less rooftops, shared staff. Homogenization. Breaking even on the front end is damn near the norm. You better hope to make it up in F&I

Now the factories are really trying to corner that profit center and stack up incentives to use factory-centric financing, icing the dealers out of their only New Sales profit center.

I think I saw a commercial on TV the other day for a $16k rebate on a new SLT 4X4

$15K off of MSRP is a really good deal. That's almost 28% off.

I got $12K off of my Sierra SLT (no 4x4) last year and was pretty ecstatic. I'd never gotten 23% off on a vehicle in my life. I tried negotiating but GMC wasn't budging past the rebates.

Thanks for the heads up. They have an impressive amount of trucks on the lot. 800+ Sierras but their website prices are a bit high. Same SLT 4x4 is $43k Vs 39k in GA

Yeah, I hear all these 56k sticker and got it for 33K and just laugh. Mine was stickered 56, got the 12k off they were offering initially. They were offering me 12,500 on my Tundra trade with 180k on it...I told them I would be fine with the deal but they needed to close the gap another 3000 dollars. They did. I thought it was fair. I think they put most of it on the trade, but I dont care. Got to keep the GM financing for 3 months, then can get it to State Farm for like 2.9.....

Of course that transmission was going out with 68 miles on it.....got another new one....really loving the GMC right now. I am scared something is breaking every time I drive it.

Since they're trying to get rid of all '18s I'm pretty sure $39K is close to the bottom already but it never hurts to ask for more off

i mean that's great and all. but mostly over the past 10 years or so, their have been some great rates or 0 interest financing to be had. Financing anything 2% or less is probably better option than cash out of pocket.

This is true in general but an interest rate on a depreciating asset is a tricky thing. They’re not losing money financing you for free.

Looking at a 2018 GMC Sierra SLT 4x4 and was curious how much they come down from their “Dealership Price”. MSRP is $54k but the dealership price is $39k. What should I start my bid at? $33k? And work up from there hoping to be around $35k. Is that possible?

I would say that is possible. Especially with 2019's on the lot.

Meaning that money isn't free even if they say it is. They cooked inflation into the price at the very least. Not saying zero percent is a bad thing and you're always getting screwed, but the bottom line for you to consider should always be the purchase price plus any money spent on interest. That's the real purchase price whether it's spelled out as such or not. Financing should be the very last thing you talk about.

I bought my 2018 Sierra SLT z71 in March. Sticker was 53k. Paid 40k. They wouldn’t budge on price but I’m a terrible negotiator. They did come up on trade in price and put in a spray bedliner and all weather mats. I thought it was fair so I made the deal and am still ok with it. Now, for that price I had to finance with GM which is a joke. As soon a I got my loan payment info, I refinanced with my CU before my first payment was due. GM gave me 4.9% where’s my CU gave me 1.9%. Hope this helps.

Ended up buying an 18 GMC Sierra SLT 4x2 for $34k. 4x4s were $38k and I already have a 4x4 so I don’t need two 4 wheel drive vehicles in the suburbs. It’s going to be a family vehicle (trips to the beach, sports events, Home Depot trips) Really like it but it’s a boat and parking it sucks

Any recommendations on bed liners? Line-x?

I bought an '18 Sierra SLT Texas edition, more options than the premium but less than the premium plus, a week and a half ago. Sticker was 55Kish, got it for ~41K....did not finance through GM so didnt get that additional 1k rebate...didnt feel like messing around with refinancing after getting raped on their high rates....bought it at courtesy Chevrolet GMC in Breaux Bridge. Good experience overall, no complaints.

I've got good credit. Just don't feel like paying more bills. It's nice not to have to worry about it

All of them. It’s really not hard to hop on carguru and find these deals everywhere. Mainly because the deals you are seeing are straight from factory

If you’re looking nationwide, be sure to look at Everett GMC in Little Rock. That’s where I bought my 2016 SLT 2500 4x4. Negotiated the price on Dec 22, ‘16, bought a 1 way plane ticket on the 23rd, and made the trip on the 26th. Great experience with them.

seems they only want to talk if you go in.

I found just the opposite with my wife's car. Bought in Dallas and did everything over phone and email. Saved about 1500 vs shreveport. Was the best car buying experience I ever had.

No what I meant is does the truck you bought have the short bed like most crewcabs or does it have the full size 6.5ft bed?
