Looking at a 2018 GMC Sierra SLT 4x4 and was curious how much they come down from their “Dealership Price”. MSRP is $54k but the dealership price is $39k. What should I start my bid at? $33k? And work up from there hoping to be around $35k. Is that possible?

Does anyone have a GMC message boards they recommend where I can do more research?

start at 33k.

They'll go talk to boss and come back with 39k and ask what monthly target you are looking for.

Punch the salesman in the face.

Leave, They'll call you before you hit the interstate and offer 38,750 cause they have some "marketing petty cash left over in the box".

$19k off is a lot, even with the redesigned 2019s on the lots.

But you'll never know if you don't try. If that's your number, just keep at it. Might get it eventually.

I bought one in may 2017, sticker was 56k.... Financed 36k when all was said and done.

Just traded it in last week though on a 2019 Toyota tundra 4x4. Ive driven nothing but chevrolets and gmc my entire life. Just wanted a change, so far extremly happy with it.

That's an absolutely worthless number without knowing your tax rate, trade in etc.

We've paid cash for out last 3 vehicles.

I love the look on the salesman's face when they ask that question and we say, "Zero."

i mean that's great and all. but mostly over the past 10 years or so, their have been some great rates or 0 interest financing to be had. Financing anything 2% or less is probably better option than cash out of pocket.

I am no doubt a Ford fanboy. But the new GMCs look great and can get a lot of truck for the money.

Congrats on the weak credit profile?

With vehicles doing 1.99 and under, it makes more sense to finance.

Is this a Baton Rouge area dealership?

Dealership is in Georgia. Probably paying cash. Want to negotiate strictly via email/phone. Does financing help lower the price? I’d be willing to finance then pay it off asap

Anyone have a good gmc message board to see what others paid?

Do they ever come off the sticker with %0 financing? It’s usually 0% financing or rebates

Also, if you are shopping GMC check out the site for Laura Buick GMC in Missouri. I believe they are consistently some of the lowest prices in the country.

I'm all for being debt free, however that look on his face is the recognition that you are now going to pay a higher price because dealers make most of their profit off of F&I and very little off of the sale. Shockingly little on GMCs. The factory has pretty much cornered the market on profit removing it from dealers.

10-15 years from now the landscape of what a car dealer is will look totally different. Probably for the better regarding consumer experience. Think Tesla where dealers are going to be legitimized used car lots with a factory service dept.

Good. It is long past time we went away from the 1950’s model we currently use.

I’m sure the Dealers Association won’t go away quietly though.
