So you think the merge lane should end where it meets the other lanes? I guarantee you if people started stopping right at the traffic merge point you’d start a thread how people are causing traffic by not using all of the merge lane. If people just left enough room between them and the car in front of them instead of being an a-hole and tailgating to not let someone in, all traffic would much more smoothly. But you apparently are one that speeds up to prevent merging thus causing someone to have to stop to wait for a courteous driver and the person behind them has to brake and the person behind them, repeat. And that’s what causes ridiculous traffic.

It really is a social experiment, much like returning your buggy to a centralized location.
So when I seen an Altima missing three rims or a dodge ram with an “I SERVED…RESPECT THE FLAG” sticker zooming pass everyone in an empty merge lane, expecting everyone to step aside for them, I ride the bumper of whomever is in front of me. The prick trying to merge is probably poor, angry and looking for a fight and that another great reason to carry at all times

No, it doesn't work because the folks in the lane that is open ride bumper to bumper. So when we get to the merge point, they have to basically come to a complete stop to let the car that needs to merge in. Which makes it miserable.
If everyone kept a car or 2 length between them and the car in front of them, the zipper merge would work beautifully.

How? If it’s legitimately bumper to bumper across the board, that’s different, merge. If you’re clearly speeding, breaking basic traffic laws, acting a fool and expecting everyone to accommodate you, how does that make me the a-hole? You sound like a cuck if this really your opinion
