Anyone want to speculate what percentage of the NOLA metro area will lose power today.

I think power outages will be widespread in NOLA for sure

For sure. Here’s to hoping for a quick return of power. If not, I’ve been looking for an excuse to completely clean out my freezer.

How good are the people on storm2k. They’re saying this thing has a chance to reach Cat 3. Is that still on the table?

Most are pretty good. I wouldn’t say it’s likely it gets to 3, but there’s certainly a chance

Dropsonde in NW eyewall measured about 55 mph surface winds. Good news for now but that could change in the next few hours.
Keep an eye on the purple colors on the recon wind images. No purple over water usually means 60 mph or less over land. 60 will knock out power in some places and take down a few trees but won’t cause major damage.
We can only hope it stays that way on the western half.

Still trying to get my brother out of the lower part of Da Parish.
I'm like WTF?.
Hell his house was completely under water after Katrina.

Shelby Latino FOX8 says CAT2.
Mandeville and St.Charles/St.John need to prepare for storm surge.
It is projected to go NE just east of Lake Pontchartrain.

No
Landfall shifted West by 10 miles or so. From Cheniere Caminada to Just West of Belle Pass (Port Fourchon ). If it keeps moving West at this rate it will be in Cat Island Pass tonight.

Just make sure you are ready for this crap. If you need a genset, let me know.

Not ideal for a fella who owns an insurance agency in NOLA metro. Dammit.

Raw data from recon says 976 on pressure this pass and movement due north. Also first light purple color on flight level wind of 89 knots or just over 100 mph on NE eyewall

Welp, looks like it’s time to get the boards for my doors up. Closed the shutters yesterday but wasn’t really planning on going any further.
This thing is coming right up our shoot.
See y’all in 24 hours!

Cat Island Pass tonight.

Probably a solid cat 2 right now. Looks like a strengthening storm at landfall...going to be a lot of surprised people in a couple hours.
