#Zeta's well inland along the Alabama-Mississippi border, but lightning has just popped up near Camden, AL. That signifies strengthening of the eyewall and convection around the eye. That is not good as it likely means areas of VERY intense wind. #ALwx

This storm will go down as one of the biggest fails by leadership, news, and forecasters. As late as this morning there were still people who had no idea this was coming. And then Bama and Georgia are about to get serious damage. 2020 is undefeated

NHC did well with the forecast track. The problem is forecasting the intensity. Zeta went against the common sense idea that the cooler shallow waters near the coast and the wind shear that would be present would weaken it. Instead, like Sally and Laura, Zeta basically continued to strengthen until landfall.

Hatches battened down. Just waiting to see which side of the house it goes on.

How in the frick is this storm still strengthening? This motherfricker really was sentient. I'm so glad this thing picked up forward speed before it started to hit here hard. We got maybe 30 minutes of bad gusts then it was complete silence past that. shite tons of rain today though. Seems like this storm dumped more rain than they thought.

They hedged their bets well, though. They actually forecast for a stronger storm, despite models trending otherwise. They knew, or believed, the possibility for strengthening was there and they conveyed that message.

And Michael. With only 11 hours of daylight to work with. And an ice storm on the back side. Yeah, everything is clearly normal.

Not really. It just confirmed that despite all the technological advances we have today, these storms are still unpredictable.

Louisiana got hit hard in parts but man this storm could've been MUCH worse. Thank god it was a late Oct storm that was hauling arse because this thing if it would've slowed down it probably would've got much worse. It didn't care about cooler water, it didn't care about dry air, it's like I notice it all and created a fetus shield for itself. Then it decided it would wobble around on land just to take a bigger shite on New Orleans. Found a way to make 50 ft. waves. Probably dumped more rain than projected(not sure on this though). Now it wants to find a way to strengthen on land. Anything else it wants to do to flip us off? frick this storm.
