Don't see that one very often. I'm assuming there were some inland hurricane warnings as well?

Does the forward speed get added to the wind calculation?

Cosmo isn’t dumb. He just wasn’t working with all the information early on. I reckon he’s a decent feller with a fat hog, no homo.

Eye is becoming detectable on long range radar...

What looks like a gap is not really a gap but the radar not picking up the entire storm through all the weather out ahead of the center.

Is there a reason for the early dismissal in EBR? Did something change with forecast?

Yes, what changed is they weren’t taking it seriously and now they are.

My wife is a professor at LSU and they cancel classes when a hurricane misses Louisiana. For one making landfall, they are still "monitoring" the situation.

Unfortunately living in Houma I hate to say this but I'm calling for a Cocodire landfall..... I don't see it making the turn and with all the movement more west.

The Weather Channel just said that you have to take the forward speed into account when discussing the wind speed. If a 90 mph wind storm is moving 30 mph, the damage will be on the scale of a 115 wind storm moving 5 mph.

It’s what happens when the boy cries wolf too many times and you run out of hurricane days.

You would think if the wind is being read at 90mph, that that would include the forward speed. I’m no scientist, but gauges are reading the actual wind speed. I’m so confused
