5) 1,000 rounds of 7mm PRC ammo

I know I will run out of ammo eventually, but my plan would be to use it sparingly and drive fear into people. They will learn to stay away.

If you stick to pistol rounds you'd likely be able to buy more there.

A compound bow is useless as is cash from the future. Additionally, pool salt comes in 40 lb bags, and would be useless as well unless you are trying to preserve meat in the wilderness.

I would be able to get anything there I want with what I’m bringing.

Seems like taking 22 wmr or 17 hmr ammo would be preferable to 22 LR

A chainsaw
Flame thrower
Leaf blower
Gas powered log splitter
... with lots of fuel for all 4
AR w/ lots of ammo
I would be considered a god

all you dudes saying you’d bring a modern SA rifle better be some bad MFers, because as soon as that thing has made itself known, one way or another, you will spend the rest of your hours trying to keep it from being forcibly removed from you. And don’t feel superior because your 22 cal round is somehow more lethal than the pistol and rifle rounds of the day cause they aren’t. Finally, in a town full of very hard people the last thing a modern transplant would want is to draw attention to himself right off the bat.

An AR15 isn’t getting you paid, getting you fed, or getting you ahead. As many have said, knowledge would make you a king

Am I coming back?

Because if so, I’m taking as much gold or silver as I can carry.

I’m taking antibiotics and opioids.

I’m taking historical stock results.

I’m catching a train or stagecoach to New York immediately. Making a fortune in that year and buying Manhattan real estate

now you’re talking

the best a normal joe modern transplant could hope for in 1878 deadwood would be to somehow remain alive. The only way to insulate oneself from the many dangers would be money (gold). Since most people don’t keep a gold reserve, next best option would be to get the frick out of deadwood as soon as you get there (after a few drinks and a whore at the Gem of course) to someplace safer where knowledge would be as good or better than money or guns

I'm going as uptown's body guard for a 20% cut. My only worry is that his wife's ring might be worth $10,000 now will be worth $300 then.

People say they are taking gold? The gold you buy today at 3211, is worth a little more than $19 then.

I'd be interested in taking things that are low priced now, but very high priced then. Sounds like uptown has good ideas and hopefully hetero. A year is a long time.

My smartphone with a solar charger loaded with all data from that area and time stored on the on-board memory. Especially gold finds, criminal reports and history of major figures.
My Miami Classic holster which contains a Glock and two spare mags.
Jar of antibiotics.
A bag of whatever gold or silver jewelry that I can find.
My rifle case which has a Remington 700 and 50 rounds in it.

Why so small caliber?

Because 22 was available in 1887.
