Hypothetically...

1. Soph in college/engineering major/3.2gpa/going to school for free

2. $110k/yr + truck/ins/gas/phone covered
Overseeing/apprentice a medium sized food distribution company (in other words, something completely unrelated to your college major)
Neg- it's 5/12s but no weekends(60hrs-only $33/hr roughly)

Not sure about benefits/vaca/potential raises/bonuses/ability to cut hours & fill some with other people
Possibly training to take over at some point

What do you do? You're 38, how bout now?

Them telling you it is 5/12's now really means more.

5/12s really suck. Absolutely no life but on weekends, and when the weekend rolls around you're too tired to do anything.

Soph. In college? Work the job till I'm 25. No upward movement/growth with company after 5 years? Back to school with about 250k post taxes and living expenses in my pocket

Outside of nepotism, nobody is getting that offer unless it's a really effed up company or one that is just gonna screw you.

Stay in school

You should make close to that as an engineer and not have to work 5/12s.

Suppose it's a family friend that just fired the last 2 for stealing and would give his left nut for someone to run it right. Pretty sure he's demanding though

If I'm 38 I take my chances in college but at 38, your bullshite detector should work pretty well, too.

Does the job seem legit? 60 hours a week with no weekends sound like your bag? Does this seem like a potential career with room for growth? Why do they want you?

Don't have to move.

There are plenty of food distribution companies tied into the oil field.

12 hour shifts with no weekends? What's the point? The money doesn't mean anything if you're never away from work.

Ahh my bad.issed that.

Get your engineering degree. Especially if your school is paid for like you say it it is. Graduate at 40. By 45 you'll be making that salary and hopefully have a lot more job security

You have to ask yourself why would they offer so much for a no skill job. Either the industry is subsidized or there is a hugeeeee bubble where they are printing money. Either way, that situation is way to volatile for my tastes.

It's legit.
60 hours is fine for a while, not permanently. No weekends is great of course
Only growth would be expanding/buying biz
Want me because of experience runnin a small biz(but nothing similar) & trust, but mostly cause he's desperate lol
