Your thoughts on the Post Office situation?

Will they be defunded? Can they be defunded? Can the US make it without a USPS? Why does Trump hate them so much? Isn't there something in the constitution that says the postal service will always be around/that it's not meant to make money?
I for one hope we never lose it. My wife is a carrier and she's always slammed. Obviously people still get mail. The only thing I would change is the Amazon shipping price

So you don't want your wife to lose her job ? Fair enough and I can empathize with that. But the post office is a shite hole and has been needing a revamping for a long time coming.
Also their unions endorsement of Biden is illegal so they deserve shite for that.
Also, tell your wife that my home does not have a receptionist to leave a package with, it's not blocked by construction, and that there is no gate. They need to come up with better excuses for why my mail wasn't delivered. Maybe because their grandma was having a baby.

I'm not going to make a broad statement about ALL mail carriers, but the majority of the ones I have ever interacted with are complete morons.
However, that was mostly in Mobile and Baton Rouge. And that's all I'm going to say about that.

Philosophically, I’m a privatization guy. But the USPS is a bit different. They are essentially the mail industry’s loss leader. They have to service ( on a daily basis) areas, populations and services that Fedex and UPS have no interest in because there would be no profit in it. My business buys about 15k in postage a year, we rely on the USPS, and we are overall very satisfied with them. We deal with them daily and they do solid work and answer our questions. Of all the problems my business has, the USPS is not one of them. Just giving my own personal experience.

The constitution only applies selectively to Trump voters. For example: The 2nd Ammendment is important for them, but voting rights for everyone don't matter if it means losing the electoral college. In their delusion, they view the USPS as an existential threat to Trump's reelection as mail in voting cannot be suppressed through selective gerrymandering. The Republican party used to be a party of principles at one time, but it no longer is the case under Trump.

Luckily, the mail carrier for my neighborhood is great. The Karens even love him because he posts and responds on the NextDoor app.

The requirement they pre-pay retirement benefits is the biggest problem. I don't think any other governmental agency is required to pre-pay but instead they only pay as people retire.

I don't know, but the mail delivery has been pretty bad around here for the last several months. Some streets get skipped and there are lot's of mistakes made about which mail ends up in who's boxes.
It doesn't help that one of the women who delivers for our area stays on her damn cellphone all day while walking the route.
At a minimum I think most areas should be considering cutting back to a 3 or 4 day delivery schedule.
