Not my story but my parents. We lived in Jackson, MS, where my dad was a pastor. Was shopping for a new truck with my mom. Found one he liked, but he never once in his life bought a vehicle the same day he shopped for one. Told a local salesman that asked if he would buy the truck same day, dad said no. He liked to take his time, and always pray and ask the Lord if he should buy that vehicle. Salesman immediately replied “well I just prayed and the Lord told me you were going to buy this truck today”. Same salemsan also told them they had an empty room they could pray in right then and see what God said…..needless to say, they did not buy that truck, went to another dealer and found one he bought a few days later.

Three weeks later the salesman calls about needing an "official transcript" showing my daughter was about to graduate for the $500.00 grad discount. We already provided the unofficial off the school portal. They needed an official transcript for the school.
I thought that was very petty.
Do you think your salesman tells Nissan what to ask for regarding their incentives?
It was their frick up not getting everything before giving you the rebate, but they weren't being petty.
Somebody else may be petty though.

Benson Dodge dealership on I-10 East many many years ago. See ad in newspaper for a new vehicle with around $6000 off sticker.
I called and confirmed they had that specific vehicle and stock number and was told yes.
Drive 1.75 hours, speak to salesman and test drive the vehicle. Tell him I want the vehicle for the advertised price - no trade in. He comes back with a higher price.
Tell him no, I want the advertised price, he talks to manager and the price stays the same but he offers me a free cell phone. Again I say no.
He goes talk to the manager, returns with same price and he offers a full tank of gas. I told him no again.
He talks to the manager, returns and says they no longer have the vehicle
I repeated to him all of the above and reminded him I test drove the vehicle.
I then told him that they sold 3 vehicles while I was there and every time they sold a vehicle they rang a bell and congratulated the customer and described the vehicle that was purchased. He confirmed that was all correct.
I was pissed by then for all of the time I wasted and stood up and hollered “call the police, somebody just stole the Dodge whatever that I just test drove”.
I made a scene to let the customers there know they were dishonest.
I also wrote a letter to Tom and Peter Benson but never received a response.
A week later I saw an ad at a Dunham Springs Ford dealership for a Thunderbird that was advertised. I called and spoke to a salesman, told him what happened at Dodge and he stated the newspaper price was valid and they had no more room on their lot and were overstocked. I told him if we arrived there and anything changed that my wife (no pics) would be pissed and it would take 12 Clydesdales to her off of him. Stated I wanted a vehicle only and no add Ons or sales pitches from the f&i guy.
Happy to say we arrived, the lot was overflowing with vehicles and a transporter was still unloading more. All went as planned and when we went into the f&i office he told the f&i guy about the Clydesdales.

That salesman sounded retarded.
In 2005 I had the cash for a new Silverado LS. Went to 3 dealers and nobody approached me. Everyone was over stocked and 4th dealer a guy walked up to me and I said you just got a sale. Here is what I have to spend. Easiest deal ever for him and myself

Bought a 2007 Honda Odyssey. I went in at 3 pm after work. I told them i would pay $500 a month for 5 years and not a cent more. They get to $550 after 2 hours of haggling. They sent me to finance guy and to work on deal. First offer he throws out is $700 with warranty. I asked him if he was nuts. I said $500 and not a cent more. He comes back with $600. I throw the paper work back at him, tell him to shove it and walk out at 6 pm. The owner calls me at work the next day at 9am. He says the van is mine at $500 a month for 5 years. I told him to meet me at my house in 30 minutes with paper work. They washed it and filled tank and delivered it at the house. The finance guys kept adding shite I didn’t want to monthly total. My wife thought I was going to punch all of them and rushed me to car and we left. Owner made the sale though.

All I will say is never buy a car from Honda cars of Mckinney. Their sales people are horrible, but their managers are even worse.
I requested info on a used car at that place and they have 3 different salesmen coming at me. Thank god it’s just emails.

My wife’s uncle owned a dealership for about 20 years from the 80s thru 2005. In late 2004 we traded in the 1996 cavalier that she bought early 2001, we traded it in on a new Jeep grand Cherokee. We were excited thinking her uncle gave us a sweet deal. In late 2005 we got a repo notice from the bank on her cavalier. Turns out her uncle had been floating titles to keep his dealership afloat. He would take trade ins and sell them using that money to make payments on notes of other trade ins instead of paying them off hoping he could get them payed off before he needed to send the title to the new lien holder.
There were about 10-15 bank customers that he had done the same way so they provided the lawyer. It took a while to get my wife’s credit restored.
Right after all this happened he just didn’t show up at the dealership and went on the lamb for about a year. They finally busted him and he died in jail from cancer a few years later.

That’s kinda sad. But he didn’t sound like a good person.
In my mind if someone does something like that once. They have done it other times

Most people don't want to deal with the hassle of looking for the best deal.
Why waste multiple days to save $500 on a $60k+ rig?
Time is worth money to some people.
Dealers hate the clowns that haggle for days over a couple hundred bucks and these days don't care if you walk.

Bought a Honda Accord in Houston back in the 90’s…
It was great car but a bad experience…they were not busy but everything took forever. Finished Negotiations on the car then some hot chick sat me down with a catalogue of add ons going through page by page and me saying no to every one of them. She got pissed and the salesperson came by and said he didn’t think he could give me the same deal since I didn’t add anything extra. I told him to honor the deal or I was leaving. They honored it.
I told them I had my own financing but if they could beat it, I would go with them. They had me wait 30 minutes to see the finance dept, when I get in, the area has no other customers…I ask them if they were busy they say no, and I proceed to rip them for keeping me waiting…I tell them I don’t care if they can beat my financing I was using my own. Caused a big uproar finally used their financing after the manager of the dealership got involved and they beat my financing by 2%.
2 weeks later my salesperson calls me and said there was a mix up on the paperwork and they needed my VIN number. I go out to my car, which sucked because I lived in an apt, and get them the number. Next week I get the same call from a different person and I repeat the process…I tell them I won’t do this again.
Next three weeks I refuse 3 times to get them the number…original salesperson calls me almost in tears saying he would come to my house to get the number because he was about to be fired. I told him to come on but I had just moved to San Antonio. He begged me until I finally gave in…I told him it was going to be a while. He stayed on hold as I watched tv for 30 minutes before I finally gave him the number. I had the number written down by this time I was just f’ing with him.

To be honest I always liked him before that, he seemed like a good dude. I’m not sure how long he was screwing people and if it was something he did from the beginning or him just trying to maintain a certain life style after he got in over his head.
Either way you are right, a good dude wouldn’t have knowingly screwed so many people. It was crazy time in the family.
