Well, I was able to drive Dad’s ‘55 Chevy Belair 2 door with a 265 V8 and 2 speed automatic.
My first purchase was a 71 Datsun pickup with a 4 banger, std shift.

The truck looked just like this internet find.

I wanted a 1980 used Camaro so bad, for sale on our street…. But ended up with an 81 Toyota Starlet.

I’m amazed I didn’t get my arse kicked having a car like that, in hindsight. But my friends and I put that car through the wringer and could physically lift it from any stuck position. My dad sold it years later and still running like a top.

1976 Mercury grand marquis. 4door with 5 cigarette lighters (1 in dash and one in each door with the ashtray). Accessory: Cassette adapter in the Philco 8 track player.

460 v8. Had carb replaced and then the motor mounts failed (too much power braking I guess). Parents always asked why back right tire was always worn out first.

Started driving in 1984.
