My son played soccer just to stay in shape until he was old enough to play tackle football then won 2 state championships in HS. You and your soccer kid couldn’t kick anyone’s arse.

Ain’t no red cards in football for hitting an opponent too hard.

Not sure if they're flocking to soccer, but I think there's definitely fewer boys playing football.

Not in Texas. The only schools with smaller football rosters are ESL or specialty campuses.

Why do you think we were the greatest country in the world? Because we didn’t play soccer.

7s rugby is all that without the gay shite.

7s rugby matches last 14 total minutes and there's still also a halftime. Not quite the same.

15s on the other hand, when the damn wing knocks the ball on for the 5th time in the 75th minute, and you have to scrum again and again after the rookie tighthead across from you keeps collapsing the scrum. That's a spot where endurance really shows.

Eta: In my totally non biased opinion.

We're also the fattest and most obese developed country in the world. God forbid our kids play a sport that requires them to run and stay in shape

All I know is, it takes a great athlete to excel at soccer considering the endurance required to run around the field for 90 minutes.

soccer is the beautiful game.
it's the ultimate team game.
you can still win if your star player is out.
it's endurance.
it's pace.
the players celebrate with the fans and don't hate their guts like american sports.
it's everything that the nba and nfl should be but isn't.

And yet...you can't use your hands. Perhaps your two most sporting appendages.

What a dumb sport.

True, but you're playing several times in a day. I think we played 7 matches on a saturday at Texas A&M. I like it because there aren't many lulls like 15s. You are always running and hitting.

We had an advantage in WWII because we could throw grenades and the Nazis and Japs couldn't due to their playing an inferior sport.

The country who had the balls to fight Hitler alone while we sat back and did jack shite…all played soccer. Even though it’s really football.

Compared to what? American football?

Yea, I’m always pining to watch over two hours of commercials in a sitting.

Given how terrible the coaching is for tackling for kids, I don’t think it’s a bad idea. Save the contact sports for when kids can be taught to play correctly.

An ejection is an ejection.

"There was targeting on the play. Player 7 is disqualified." Is said an awful lot on the gridiron these days.

Hell, it's a lot easier to get ejected in football than soccer.

The popularity of soccer and the recent increase of zoomers having body dysmorphia are directly related.
