The funny part will be when a Tesla owner has to shell out $3,000+ to change all 4 tires

o he is using the equivalent of 4 ovens cooking a thanksgiving dinner at his house every night.
Dude...if you are only cooking your thanksgiving dinner for 30 minutes, you might want to recheck the recipe. Food poisoning is not pleasant.

Depending on the distance traveled between charges 30 minutes wont do it...the post I was responding to said over night, not 30 minutes. According to Tesla it is, depending on distance travelled, 6-12 hours with their 50 amp residential charger. That's about the same amount of time it takes to cook a turkey and the same amount of current.
My bad. I didn't realize the guy was driving all 3 of his cars completely to zero every night. At 330 mile range each, that's 1,300 miles every day.
Overnight, means that it is on the charger throughout the night. Once the vehicle is fully charged, it stops drawing electricity. So, you are correct...if they are driving 1,300 miles per day, it would be the equivalent of cooking 4 turkeys every day.

Owner has to buy new battery after current one dies and he gets locked out.
He stated his car cost $140k in 2013...It does not appear that Tesla sold any cars that cost as much as $140k in 2013.

As a fellow Tesla owner, I’m asking you to please stop. This is embarrassing.

A 10 year-old EV will be damn near unsellable.

Why? Does the high school call the cops when they see your ev prowling around?

It's Canadian so idk what the exchange rate was in 2013. Regardless, i think it;s a highly unlikely scenario where the BESS and the 12V system have to both be bricked.
ETA looks like the most expensive model was $89,500 CAD in 2013.

quote:No, I do not need to put away $2k every year just because you are misinformed.
So every year, your basically need to be putting almost $2,000 per year away just for the new battery you’ll have to buy.
Your an idiot if you think EV’s are practical

Yes, Yogi, it is indeed…….

Stating that EVs use brakes faster than ICE is one of the stupidest fricking things i've ever heard. It's well know that they consume brake pad material at a significantly lower rate due to the heavy use of regenerative braking.

The latest model 3 is getting pretty appealing. The rwd only model I'm sure can be had for under 30k with tax breaks. It's a nice looking vehicle too.
It'd get me to work and back every day, and I could plug it in at home.
When my current commuter car is done (a traditional ICE/naturally aspirated japanese sedan), I'm going to look hard at it.
Why? because regular ICE vehicles are getting more complicated and worse. Turbos. 10 speed autos (or worse, CVTs), tons of emissions equipment, etc.
I've never even owned a Hybrid for the same reason (more complexity = less reliability).

Why should I care one way or the other what other people do with their vehicle?

The only thing all of these arguments against EVs prove is that you’ve never driven a Tesla.
Posted on 3/6/24 at 1:25 pm to BeepNode
Should be the only place they charge

Guess so. Deleting 10,000 posts might take a while

We have free charging stations at work…. Not sure why a company would want that cost. Most of the company works from home too
